Asian Persuasion by Jason Yourgules - Short, Comedy - Jack is a young animator on the cusp of his most important project. Meeting his Asian girlfriend's mother. - rtf, format
FYI, Jason, you're less likely to get reads if you submit your script in .fdr format. Not everyone has Final Draft...I'd suggest exporting to .rtf.
I cracked this open but I don't really have time to read right now, it looks like you might have something interesting going in the first few pages. I'll try and get to it soon.
I don't know. I think you need to spend a little more time on your description. As of page 10, I like how everything is unfolding, but I can't really picture characters. The relationship of Jack and Jill also seems a little empty. I think we could use a bit more of an introduction to these two before they get into the house, since our only backstory is a cartoon of something that didn't really happen.
The dialogue is fairly well handled, but it seems to be lacking a certain something. I really don't know what bothers me about it...um...yeah.
The family doesn't seem very realistic. You don't even mention their reactions to the buddha being broken. Then they say nothing as Jack and Jill rush out the door. Think about how people would really react to situations. Maybe that's what bothers me about the dialogue.
I like the animation stuff. I assume, though you never mention it, that the rest is live-action. I think this could work really well in film. Um...that's all for now.
Oh yeah, I think the title 'Asian Persuasion' might put people off.
