Top 10% released today.

Nearly 6000 entries, not bad.

Just wondered who has entered and got through?

Think I've spotted Mo, Breanne and I have one myself.

Any others?

Congrats Bill!  And Breanne & Mo! Not sure if Zach is a member here, he is at MP. He's on the feature list for Frog Boy.

Best of luck in the next round! Over 6000 entries is insane!

Have 2 features that advanced.

On a related note (given that BlueCat is Gordy Hoffman's baby), Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his NY apartment today. Tragic. Only 46.

Good job, everybody. I saw Steve on there as well and one other person whose name I've forgotten. I thought Phil Clarke would make it too, that's unfortunate. Did anybody else enter? Here's the link for those who are interested.

Not the rewrite I should've done ;D. Skimming over the script I sent, there's just a lot of amateur mistakes, a lot of poor dialogue, lot of poor beats, and the writing has no flare or style. Wrote this around a year ago and I think if I were to write this again today, not a lot would be the same. I'm planning on giving it a full do over later in the year, plenty of things that need changing. Surprised that it got this far. I think it might've been just how accessible and relatable relationship stories are. We'll see how it fares in the later rounds though. Thanks for asking though. :)

Good luck everyone!

Congrats to Mohammad and Bill for advancing. Looks like everyone moved on but me. :'( Oh well, my genius has always gone unrecognized. ;D

Bogey, I don't know your name so I don't know if you advanced. If so, congrats. If not, join the club of overlooked geniuses. ;D

Also, congrats to anyone I've missed.

No, that's the Misunderstood Geniuses Club. This is the Overlooked Geniuses Club. :)

Thanks Breanne

The funny thing is i won the London Film Awards with my script the Grieving Spell, ahead of my other script Inner Journey.

In Bluecat TGS failed to get past the first 10% when IJ did. Hey ho, its all subjective

The more I'm involved the more i realise i have take it with a pinch of salt...yet...i enjoy the fight, the challenge. Let that carry on.

SS is a great site with some great potential in so many writers. I would hate to think they didn't think they were worth fighting out  a competition when i think this is actually a great breading ground for writers.

all the best

PS I'm pissed, so apologies if this makes no sense...too much booze!!

Thanks, everybody! I've noticed that with competitions, it highly highly depends on which reader you get. Very subjective and there's no doubt certain stories do better than others. The comp gives you a nice chin up more than anything. To maybe tell you you're not as bad as you seem. ;D

Well I'm still in, now up to the semi finals, down to the last 34.

I think Mo has fallen out but quite frankly the feature competition is over twice the size of the short so he should be damn proud of that. I don't have a feature script worthy of that.

Great stuff, Bill! Two thumbs up, 34/1000 is awesome. Good luck!

Of course, like anybody, I was rooting for my script to go through but really, it didn't deserve to. I finally got off my arse and actually looked at it two or so weeks back and decided the only way for it to work was to do a page 1 rewrite. Shows you how much confidence I had in it!

Congrats Bill, that's great news. Unfortunately my feature didn't make it past the quarter final stage. When are the finalists announced?
Posted by: Reef Dreamer, April 3rd, 2014, 3:46pm; Reply: 26
Alas didn't win - only four finalists named, which is a tad weird. Well done to them.

Anyway, she made the semi finals which is cool, along with being a Page Finalist, American Gem finalist and a Gimme credit placing.

I can now retire Inner Journey after her - I feel my scripts are female like boats - own journey.

She's done me proud and I'm glad to say she was born on Simply scripts  :)

Sorry to hear, but a great, great run. Probably harder to be a semi-finalist and finalist in all of those than it is to just win one. To win requires luck...but to do well in so many means the script is truly good.

Exactly what Kevin said. Truly a shame, Bill, you should dab your hands in features more, you definitely have the talent for it. It definitely takes skill to place (and win) in so many comps. Be sure to send me your MP feature once you finish if you need a read on it. :)

thanks guys.

Sorry to hear that, man. But getting as far as you did is a major achievement in itself! You should be real proud of yourself.
