Scripts are up! Thanks, Don. I have some time now for a quick feature, luckily 90 seems to be a hit for most writers, should make it easier. I know Tobes and I certainly haven't.

Glad to see peeps jumping in on reads already. I struggled with the genre for a while, it's easy to classify it as a sci-fi concept, but it's really ingrained into a sense of realism which is hard to quantify, especially since it's predominately set in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Upstream Color lends a good example.

If I save this one till last it could be down to 90 pages. I'm a third of the way into Reef's at the moment, then I'll read Mohammed's as they've both read mine and i have some catching up to do. Got some good notes for Reef at the moment though.

Hey Johnny, awesome! Thank you :D Really happy to hear that BH caught your eye.

Interesting question, as well. My previous feature also featured a female protag, so this script actually felt like a natural progression from that. I grew up in a household of mainly women, so a lot of their personality traits have seeped into both these protags... just don't let them hear that, otherwise they'll murder me! Haha.

I found it challenging as I'd picked an action type of story involving vampires and really wanted to avoid any Buffy references. At one point I almost had her being able to do some type of martial art, then I even considered making her a werewolf... in the end, I found a direction to go that was out of the ordinary.

I don't normally struggle with female protags though unless it's action. Men are so much stronger than women it's difficult to swallow when they take men down so easily. Unless they're Chinese. The smallest, oldest Chinese lady could beat the shit out of five guys at once. Perfectly acceptable. Sexy white bitch with popcorn muscles, not so much.

I started on The Treasure Chest yesterday, but have no idea how long it will take me to read. I have company here for a while. Have patience. I'll get to it.  :)

Not far wrong... Got it down to 126. Edited the link in my thread to this leaner version. Not touching it again until I'm back from Amsterdam at the weekend, but I'm hopeful of getting it down below the 120 mark.

Just to let you guys know that I didn't drop the ball. I've just been away for a few days at DW with my kids. As always, I planned to read a lot and write a lot...as always, I didn't read one word, nor did I write anything. Had a lot of fun though...  ;D

I have a few hours later today so will get Mo's done. I should be cool for another one tomorrow too. Then it will most likely be Monday... but I'll try and get something done this weekend. Who knows, it might be raining.

Likewise juggling time. Will finish mo today and then move on so hopefully have another done in the next few days

I've been a little busy myself, so I've only been able to review Last Blue Blood Vampire and the first 10 of Blood Harvest. I hope I have enough free time to get back to business.

How's everyone's rewrites coming?

I've taken a sledgehammer to act 2. Changing far more than I had initially planned, but everything is already flowing far better. I honestly predict at least 50% of act 2 will be comletely new by the end of this next rewrite, if not more.

I know that I still have two scripts to read from this, and I will get to them as soon as I can. I've been swamped at work this week, and then I'm off again (this time to Lisbon, Portugal) from Thursday to Monday, so it's looking increasingly unlikely that I will get either two read before I go away.

But you never know.

Regardless, I will give them both a read as soon as I return.

I'm writing something else entirely. I can't write one script and perfect it all in one go. I need to take a rest for a while and write something else, maybe even write several other things. The rewrite for this will most likely be in a couple of months time...

Been very busy catching up with some stuff, but I'll be back reading again over the next couple of days.

i was some what demotivated in the rewrite and then along comes the new opening scene and before you know I'm back in the mood.

i just needed the motivation and that came from feeling excited about it again

some really good changes, new scenes, different order , even mixed up two separate scenes to increase the energy and tension
