So, do you have to declare you are IN by a certain deadline, or do you just go about your merry way and hand it in at the end? "Yes, I followed the rules, never contributed, but here is my masterpiece." Like, couldn't anyone just send some script in they have been working on for years that fits the bill and then say " Oh yes, this fits!"and try to dupe real participants?
You do not have to declare your in. The goal is to finish a first draft of a feature. We don't really care how you get there. Everyone has their own way of tackling this.
What would be the point in submitting something you've already written? This isn't a competition. I wrote one that fits perfectly a few months ago. One reason I won't take part. Just bust out a new one!
Got my first ten done. I've had to switch a few things around, like a female protag, but I like the way this story is going thus far. I have attempted to write this story twice before and given up, so hopefully this 7WC gives me what I need to finally finish this time.

Thanks, Dustin. Will take a look after I get something to eat/drink.
Eh, that took long(er). Anyway, I think TVTropes gave me a good idea of what a MacGuffin is.
I've been quite enamoured with a feature idea for a few days. Unfortunately, I can't come up with a MacGuffin that sounds remotely organic to the story in my head. It could fit into the thriller category, but maybe leans more towards drama as I envision it as character-centric, with a fairly slow burn. I might go with that if I can think of a decent MacGuffin, but as the topic requires a fair amount of research, it might be better to try and come up with a simpler idea just for the OWC.
Thinking of a MacGuffin story for thriller or action could probably be the easiest. Maybe even the same for sci-fi, which would probably instantly mean a grander concept. Horror even seems the hardest right now.
I'll try and start writing tomorrow, maybe I'll figure out what to do tonight. Good luck all!

In all fairness mine is an old short story idea that I've been thinking about for a few years, so this one will come fairly easily. I just hope I can do it justice this time.
Page 14 now. I may get a couple more done before sleep. Tomorrow I will go for 20 pages as it's a Sunday. Just slap the old headphones on and get 'er done. The story is in my head, it's just a matter of writing it down.
I wouldn't mind getting some help from you Pia if I get stuck, as well.
I'm not sure where you'd submit your first ten. Maybe just a link to your script here? I don't know. Maybe Don will give further instructions on that during the week.
As far as help goes, I'll do whatever I can to help.
Was also trying to wrap my head around the concept, thought I had a good idea going but after looking at the tvTropes link, my item is really pushing it. On the surface, the limitation doesn't seem too hard, but I'm having a lot of trouble actually creating something that instigates the story but isn't used for anything in particular and more importantly, that the McGuffin can also roughly be replaceable, meaning it's not very important what the item really is. I've never written anything like that before, although I'll likely try and get an entry in.
Also, are the first 10 anonymous? I'm not sure whether I'll get them in, but if they aren't, maybe folks could write what they're going to be using as the McGuffin (if they feel so inclined of course).
I'm tentatively in. I have my idea and concept. The plot is starting to form. I'm still trying to finish a rewrite on something else and my vacay is next week, so I'm not sure I'll make the ten.
As for the MacGuffin, I may be stretching it, but I don't think so. I'm basically going off the idea that a MacGuffin is anything that drives the plot through the protagonist or antagonist's pursuit of it, and that driving the plot is pretty much the only role it plays in the story.
As for what my MacGuffin is, I'll give a hint... it's small enough to fit inside a womb
I don't care about the Macguffin, or any of the other parameters. I do have a Macguffin though, I'm twenty pages in and it hasn't been mentioned yet, but it will come up in the next 20... hopefully. The story goes where the story goes, to hell with the 'rules'.
The idea behind this contest is to get you to write a feature. If you miss one or two of the stipulations then it will not matter, because at the end, you've written a great story that hasn't been held back by some made-up-on-the-spot rules.
The only thing you can win with this is a completed feature. The only thing you can lose is to not finish it. Leaving out the Macguffin doesn't make you a loser. Plus, I'd rather read proper well told stories than something that has a Macguffin levered in just to fit the rules.
