Dunno if this is the right place to post this so please move if not.
For the last few months I've been collaborating with a director on a web-series entitled "Programmed". Today we've finally got the Facebook page and website up and running.
A secret organization of aliens are using their own technology to program humans in order to over throw governments around the world and obtain global dominance. That is if five escaped prisoners don't stop them first.
Glenn - I've signed up, look forward to seeing the series.
A tip though (from someone who used to work in website usability)... it isn't clear where your newsletter would be, or where I subscribe... I found it but wasn't obvious... I'd add a Newsletter tab to it and make sure it's prominenent...
I'm totally useless at web design so the website isn't my doing at all, the director handled that. I'll say it to him about the newsletter tab. Overall, though, how did you find the website?
Ok here's my thoughts... 1) Love the arresting image on the homepage. 2) 'Seasons' tab and page have no content, I'd add something here, maybe loglines for first few episodes. 3) 'Audition', I'd probably put some introductory text here in terms of who you are looking for and the locations you'd consider. 4) Some of the text on the 'Sneak Peek' page doesn't seem to fit the page, e.g. text about auditions. 5) The 'Donate' tab takes you through to a PayPal page with a weird address on it kodjo.silver@yahoo.com... I'd try and add donate@programmedseries.com to your PayPal setup, otherwise it looks a bit scammy. I did donate $5 though 6) I can't see the Facebook page mentioned on the website, I'd add it and create a Twitter account for the series too, and link that. 7) The 'Team' page, I'd add IMDB links or links to other works. Apart from Auddition and Donate, there's no real/proper 'Contact Us' link/page, I'd add this so people can ask you more general questions.
Overall, the website looks professional and is a great start, I'd adress the above and you'll be getting there.
Hope that helps and happy to look again at another time.
I wonder if the casting director demands one sleeps with her to get the part? Would you ask? If so, put me down for an audition.
Seriously though mate, well done so far. Good luck with the rest of the project.
In regard to the website, it's a Squarespace template. Cheap but functional. I think Wordpress is better... and Joomla is excellent, if not a little too complicated for simple websites.
We're doing pretty well so far. If everything goes to plan, filming should start on the 30th of May. Over 40 people have applied to audition. So we'll soon start going through them and casting.
Yes. The website looks rather good. I looked through it all.
The storyboard business is impressive. I'd like to see a bit more of that. I've done some of my own in the past. Lordy, looked like a spider had crawled through ink then fought off a particularly amorous moth. Which is probably why I concentrate on just the screenplays these days.
So it's coming soon. So how soon is now? No, went in Manc mode there. Hang on, I'll try again... How soon is soon?
Above is the link to the teaser/behind the scenes/a few words from the director for "Programmed". It's also the crowd funding link if you want to pump a couple of grand into it
Just thought I'd update you all and eager to hear what some of you think. Cheers.
Trailer coming along really well. looks interesting!
Re Crowdfunding link... GoFundme is not a service I'm aware of and they don't offer Paypal ;-(... and the rewards for contributing are a little limited... I'd have a look at maybe putting it on Indiegogo as well and expand the rewards into.
