Asked if I wanted to upload one of my scripts. When I went to check it out I found out it had already been uploaded. He's obviously raiding SS because there's one there from Mark Renshaw, Pia, and Rob H as well.

I would think so, Anthony. I'm not sure what the end game is. It's not a very sophisticated site. If I was Don I'd be mega-pissed since he is linking to Don's site.

A quick google search on this dude reveals him to be some sort of techie or script (code) writer.

I got an email from support@auteurly.com. If he was stealing, I'm not sure why he'd tip me off.

Yeah, I just found him too and have no idea what the scam is here - but it does feel very scammy.

I'm going to ask him to remove my scripts and see what response I get.

They said they've removed my scripts, been to check and they seem to have done that by breaking the site

I had a very strange exchange with them, which I won't post here, because they are likely lurking. Suffice to say that all SS scripts have been removed.

The third response I got from them was to say they'd uploaded my scripts in advance of asking my permission.

Which is what I suspect they've done with all... a very strange and scammy way to launch a script hosting site, which is what I've told them.

Libby, I'd love to think my scripts were specially selected but I suspect they were using a program to data mine or screen-scrape or some other bot based skullduggery to get to the scripts... they'd have got to yours soon enough.

Are the script pathed to his site or mine?  IOW, is the url:

If the former, I do not explicitly forbid deep linking to a script.  However, if the latter, then what he is doing is wrong and he needs to take them down unless you have given him permission to host your work.

I don't think any of us gave permission, Don, but my understanding is the site's been removed - least it didn't work for me.

Hi Don, it was the former, it was a direct link to the SS site. However the website looked really sketchy. I saw scripts appearing as I had the site up, like there was some huge upload taking place.

And there were a couple of scripts that were "favorited" (heart emoji) with one or two likes and had the status of "claimed", however none of that was clickable.

I first told him to take mine down and he said it was a "mistake" and that he would; then I said I filed a complaint with the google registrar and that he didn't have permission to post any of the scripts and he said "you are right, they are down now" and that's when the site disappeared.

I emailed them with a cease and desist type message too, their response suggested that they'd pre-loaded my scripts, and accidentally made them public before they'd emailed me for permission.

I told them that this was still in breach of data privacy laws, as far as I'm aware, and then the site went down and everything vanished.

I think two Anthony's on the case is too much for anyone!

I missed all this action and got one of these emails. Glad to know you guys where on the ball and got it sorted!
