A short script I wrote a few years back and posted on the board, All Good, is being produced by a director in LA! He has submitted the project to SeedandSpark for crowdfunding (it isn't live yet, but once it is I'll share the link here. I don't expect anyone to contribute obviously but I'd be dumb not to share the option!)
This has been on foot all year, but it finally seems very real because the director has commenced pre-production with getting a crew and cast. Very exciting. The script is on the board if You want to read it, thanks to everyone that gave me feedback to make it better!
Congrats, Ben! I looked it up and noticed I commented and was a big fan of this one. Looking forward to seeing the film and more details re the crowdfunding.
It will be very strange - the premise is vaguely autobiographical and the main character is sort of based on myself. I can’t imagine seeing it acted out on a screen.
I've tried to pledge several times and it keeps saying the credit card is declined. I don't own a credit card just a debit card and it's just not accepting it :/
I used a Debit card, Warren. They're usually Visa or MasterCard - Universal cards I suppose. Maybe if yours is not one of those it has a problem. I wish these sites would take PayPal.

Just a standard Mastercard Debit Card from the Commonwealth. I'll give it a few days and try again.
Thanks anyway Warren! Don’t stress if it doesn’t work. Weird that they’d not use PayPal.
As a side note, does 20k seem like a normal budget for a short film? I’ve never funded a project myself so I am only guessing, but I was imagining a few thousand, maybe 10k, as a goal (there’s no CGI explosions in the script).
$20k is honestly pretty reasonable. Especially if it's being produced in LA using union crew and SAG actors. Costs spiral quickly when you hire pros, but it's almost always worth it if you have the means.
My films have all cost between $500-$1500, but we're a bunch of hacks using equipment I already own and spent a ton on. Everything's non-union.
Best of luck with this. It looks like it could be great.
Makes sense Jwent! yep as far as I know the director is out of LA, and is being super legit with everything (casting directors, production designers, location scouting, a relatively large crew etc) so the cost makes more sense. I think I was probably imagining a more informal thing because he’s so young, but more power to him
