Hmmmmm tough. Mine changes on a weekly basis. Right now my favourite song is probably Wonderwall by Oasis. Also Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower and anything by Nine Inch Nails or Juno Reactor.
One of my favorites is "Brick" by Ben Folds Five. And "Hands Down" by Dashboard Confessional is amazing. Just the acoustic version, though. I prefer acoustic over the other thing.
My favorite song changes on a daily basis. Here are most of them:
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run Van Morrison & Them - It's All Over Now Baby Blue Supertramp - Goodbye Stranger Rolling Stones - Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker) Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter Bob Dylan - The Man In Me
...and all those songs are older than me, so I thought I'd add some new stuff...
Kanye West - Flashing Lights Talib Kweli - Get By
Please, read Elvis The Goat or Cold Turkey. Thanks in advance and I'll make sure to review your script in exchange.
Two of my all-time favorite songs are "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC and "Southern Cross" by Crosby, Stills & Nash. Outside of those two definites, there's like a gajillion others.
On a similar note, I'm going to have to go with 'Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are', by Meat Loaf. Boy, Jim Steinman certainly likes titling songs with car parts in them.
Also
- 'Fuck You: An Ode to No One' by Smashing Pumpkins. - 'Suicide is Painless' (aka: The Theme Song from M*A*S*H) - The original version. I'm not too sure who sings it, but I can't stand Manson's crappy cover.
And Sniper just reminded me how great 'This is War' by Smile Empty Soul is, too.
The Pretender ( the Jackson Brown song but only the version by Gary U.S. Bonds which is a sizzling soul cover) Games People Play - The Spinners Mighty Love - The Spinners Nine Times Out of Ten - Teddy Pendergrass Backstabbers - The O'Jays Backstreets -Springsteen Baker Street - Gerry rafferty The Friends Of Mr Cairo - Vangelis & Jon Anderson
And Hell yeah I'll give a Jim Steinman shout out for both Bat Out Of Hell & Steinman's version of Bad For Good
13 feature scripts, 2 short subjects. One sale, 4 options. Nothing filmed. Damn.
Currently rewriting another writer's SciFi script for an indie producer in L.A.
Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin Old Man - Neil Young The Damage Done - Neil Young Blinded by The Light - Manfred Mann’s Earth Band Beast of Burden - Rolling Stones Emotional Rescue - Rolling Stones Son of a Preacher Man – Dusty Springfield Everybody’s Talkin - Harry Nilson Chop Suey – System of a Down Not for You – Pearl Jam Corduroy – Pearl Jam The Only Living Boy in New York – Simon and Garfunkel The Rain Song – Led Zeppelin Once in a Lifetime – Talking Heads Perfect Day - Lou Reed
Polyamorous - Breaking Benjamin San Dimas - Dead and Divine Heroes Get Remembered - Four Year Strong Lights Out - Letterkills Blame Me - Dropping Daylight
I wouldn't say they're my favorite of all time. but they're definitely my favorite at this time. anyone know of these songs?
It was a cool R&B track back in '02, and Amerie quickly became my favorite artist of all time. The song is very unique and distinctive, especially coming from some random R&B chick, but most importantly...it reminds me of my first love...
as a huge beatle fan, it's hard to pick one as a favorite. But Penny Lane is probably the best. my faves at the moment are The Shock of the Lightning and I'm Outta Time by Oasis.
Since high school, I've only had three songs that have been my favorite, and they still move around a bit. Current ranking is:
The Fountain of Lamneth - Rush Friday I'm in Love - The Cure Smile and Wave - Little League
The list gets a bit more fluid after that, but the ones at the top are still relatively stable. Current top ten is rounded out with:
Drowning Lessons - My Chemical Romance Wounded - Third Eye Blind A Passion Play - Jethro Tull Heart Carved Tree - Knapsack Logan to Government Center - Brand New Everlong - Foo Fighters The Crowing - Coheed & Cambria
Muhammad And Christ would life Would lay Your body down To a tune So wild international In the desert Full of bullets Let your body rot With my chrome With my verse With my body rock
Down in the hole / Jesus tries to crack a smile / Beneath another shovel load
Yes, so difficult to narrow down to 5...so I'll throw in 7. I'll have to go with 7 that are "classics", tried and true with me, although there are countless "new" songs over teh last couple years that very easily could climb into this list at some point.
Here we go...in no particular order...
Ornament - Trans Siberian Orchestra Comfort Me - Shadow Gallery Heaven and Hell - Black Sabbath Believe - Savatage Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden Red Barchetta - RUSH Another Day - Dream Theater
Sorry to all my other favorites out there! I haven't forgotten you and wish this list could be the top 250.
'Mister Tanner' by Harry Chapin 'Story of a Life' by Harry Chapin 'What Made America Famous' by Harry Chapin 'One Tin Soldier' by Coven 'Rock Star' by Nickleback 'The Monorail Song' by the Simpson cast 'Martha' by Meatloaf 'Bat Out of Hell' by Meatloaf 'Born to Run' by Bruce Springstein 'Jungleland' by Bruce Springstein 'Let It Be' by The Beatles 'My Life' by The Beatles.
and my favorite one-hit-wonder 'Spirit in the Sky' by Norman Neussbaum
I just can't pick a favorite. I like almost everything.
I do enjoy The Beatles still and am listening to Across The Universe right now.
There's just so much excellent music it's hard for me to say.
What's coming to mind right now is a collection of music from Cats.
If I could see the live performance of Cats, that would be excellent, but that's not one song.
If my mind drifts to solo artists I think of Bette Midler, Anne Murray, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Nelly Furtado, Elton John,
Groups: Fleetwood Mac, Supertramp, 3 Doors Down, Crosby Stills and Nash, Creedence Clearwater, Dire Straights, Barenaked Ladies (I love those guys), Nickelback, (excellent feel to their music)...
Oh, I don't know, the only music I don't like is some of that screaming music of Corn type groups, but I did have a young friend who loved that type of music and she was a real sweetheart.
Nice video. I have to admit, I like it when bands base their video on a movie. Taking Back Sunday did a great one of Fight Club with their video for "Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From the Team)", and 30 Seconds to Mars also had a great video based on The Shining for their video for "The Kill." My Chemical Romance did Audition in their video "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us", but I don't think it was quite as good as the others.
One of my favorite music videos is Foo Fighters' "Everlong." Though the whole thing isn't based on a movie, a sizable portion of it is a reference to The Evil Dead.
Anyway, is this the same Madness that sang "Our House"?
I have got tickets to see Elbow next week and as a consequence have been listening to them a lot recently and at the moment at least "One Day like This" is my new favorite song. What a stunning band they are...
Funny! Sorry, but I watched (and listened) to those 2 youtube "performances", and had to shut them down long before they were done. I just can't stand that type of music...it's so weak, lame, and cheesy.
I've tried repeatedly. Sent 2 PM's with apologies to Giles, but he won't respond.
You are right, You did send me a PM to apologise, then two days later you go and write two shitty posts on here that just seem to be attempts at pissing me off. Apologies mean nothing if you don't actually mean it.
Look, just chill out and there is no need to apologise. Arguments are one thing, hell I have had my share of disagreement with people, whether it is about writing, or script club. But one thing that I find unacceptable is making it personal, attacking somebody else or being rude to someone else is just not on. You can argue with someone and still show respect for them, you may not agree with their ideas but that does not mean that you can attack the person.
There is nobody who appears regularly on this site who i would consider to be anything but a good, decent person. You may not like what they wrote and are perfectly entitled to give them hell for it but show some respect. That is all. No need to apologise, I have thick skin and am perfectly capable of giving it back when fully wound up.
Now, see -- I considered deleting this when I saw it. I just knew nothing good would come of it. I mean, how would you expect him to respond, Dreamscale?
People gripe if we delete, and sometimes stuff happens when we don't.
I considered deleting your response, too, Giles. But at least it was a song. And, frankly, kind of funny. But still out of line. (stern look)
Now it is time for you two otherwise intellegent and sometimes eloquent contributors to our little corner of the internet to put this one to rest. Either make up -- or avoid each other -- but more posts regarding this little disagreement will go.
Giles gets the last word because you started it, Dreamscale.
Wow, 'For No One' is your fave song, Michel? Awesome! Naturally I like all the Beatles stuff. This is great too. And it was just an album song, not a single or anything!Actually, 'Revolver' is my fave album of all time and I feel it's the best ever made.

This song, IMO, is the most touching one than Macca ever wrote (and God knows I know by heart everyone of his songs). The first time I heard, too many years ago , it got me some deep inside and I never forget it. Even his own cover in "Give My Regards To Broad Street " (I won't comment on that shi**y film) is awesome.
Most people tend to not listen to hip-hop nowadays because they only hear the radio. Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye West, etc. are all such horrible emcees. Here's some of my favorites.
There is no way I could ever pick a favorite, but music that sticks out is:
House of the Risin' Sun Drops of Jupiter Use Somebody Thunderstruck
anything by The Stones anything by The White Stripes anything by CCR
then I love blues
Muddy Waters KoKo Taylor
I could go on and on, but there's no way I could only pick one song or band

OK, it works, but it's not embedded like everyone else's vids. Anyway, here's a "classic" from the boys...ENJOY!!!!!
I sent you an email with further instructions, Jeff. I know it can be confusing at first. Not to worry, we figure things out eventually. I'm still trying to learn to prounounce a Spanish "rolled" "R" because I'm heading to Barcelona in the New Year.
I'll be wandering around completely lost and I'll probably forget everything I learn.
I was thinking about the false idea of "elitist white boys" having the perfect life-- but we know there is no such thing.
Get into this crowd, and it gets more corrupt-- it's just more, shall we say, subliminal. Here we get the "poison tongue". No fist fights. It's much worse.
Still, it appears that things are lushy-plushy on the outside.
Which is really way on the outside when you compare the apparent "golfists on a summer's day", living an easy life-- it seems.
It only seems. Yet, compared to the "shove the shit on the next generation of hopeful stoned and burnt lost souls" that exist in Gran Torino, it's an easy compromise.
Seems that "white elitist" or "black dig for the gold the elitist holds" one thing holds true:
A good wish that life's pain can't quite resolve. A wish undecided-- for a strong and lethal needle to end all of that pain. Ach! There's always heroine for those inclined and dire.
[quote=Mr._Blonde]Just a taste of what I've been listening to in the last couple hours.
Art Garfunkel - All I Know:
I had to add the lyrics. And now, I need to go make love.
I bruise you, you bruise me We both bruise too easily, too easily to let it show I love you and that's all I know .
All my plans have fallin' through, All my plans depend on you, depend on you to help them grow, I love you and that's all I know.
When the singer's gone let the song go on...
But the ending always comes at last, Endings always come too fast, They come too fast but they past too slow, I love you and that's all I know .
When the singer's gone let the song go on, It's a fine line between the darkness and the dawn. They say in the darkest night there's a light beyond
But the ending always comes at last, Endings always come too fast, They come too fast But they past too slow, I love you, and that's all I know. That's all I know, that's all I know.
So I'm surfing YouTube and - DAMN - one the classiest songs from my youth pops up. After listening to it a couple of times now, I've come to the conclusion that it really is THE BEST SONG EVER MADE. I mean it.
Oh, and Baby Love (drool) is just sizzling. I can't remember ever being attracted to a girl with a mullet before but this bonita can swing on my pole any day of the week (problem is, she's probably like 50 or 60 now - oh, well).
Down in the hole / Jesus tries to crack a smile / Beneath another shovel load
I've been in a zombie mood, so these are some of the songs I've been listening to as of recent.
Crimson & Clover - Toomy James and the Shondells Hunt - Ryuichi Sakamoto L'Arena - Ennio Morricone Coconut - Harry Nilsson Today - The Smashing Pumpkins The Next Life - Suede 1812 Overture - Techaikovsky

Catchy tune but.
Stevie, that ain't no he-she-dude-in-disguise-guy. She's a woman alright. Her real name is Daisy Castro.
Down in the hole / Jesus tries to crack a smile / Beneath another shovel load
Are you sober Sniper? That's song is terrible, but who am I to judge. I might change my tune as the evening goes on.
I am very sober - for some unknown reason.
Pia, if you're not down with Rock Steady Crew, well, then you're just not down with life. Don't forget, Pia, their moves are, like, true. Can you do what they do?

I usually stay way the hell clear of rap and hip-hop unless it's some of the old school shit but this track by Ice Cube is one of those rare times where the story telling is simply superb. Split up in a 3-act structure, this track tells the story of the rise and fall of a gang banger.
Life.... niggas used to come and get me when it was time to disagree with an enemy pass the hennessy it gives me energy packed the gat in the small of my back where these niggas at I clear the whole pack talkin' shit cuz I'm down for my set I'm a vet smokin' on a wet cigarette (who these niggas think they are) (wishin' on a ghetto star i represent my tar) I start bustin' and they scatter like water bugs cuz these westside niggas is harder thugs enslve us but nothin' can save us from sportin' Ben Davis shootin' at your neighbors (cuz sometimes I feel like a nut don't give a fuck when I open ya up) hot rocks fly from the back seat and busta ass niggas run like a track meet an if you crawl in the middle bleed mo' than a little (what) killer king is the hospital feelin' numb from the bullets I hum and when they hit black mothers have fits I don't give a shit

As is the case with my writing, I'm ALL over the place with music, bosa nova to grunge, metal to pop, techno to R&B.
In no particular order:
NIN--closer Portishead--Glory Box Sarah McLauchlan--Silence (airscape remix) David Morales--In de Ghetto Alice in Chains--Man in the Box Living COlour--cult of personality Zeppelin--Babe I'm gonna Leave you/The Ocean Nirvana--Lithium Faithless--insomnia (armand's euro trip remix) Micahel Jackson--Remember the Time/Keep it in the Closet Prince--Darling Nikki/Take me with you/Erotic City Spinners--I'll be Around Chic--Le Freak/Dance Dance Dance France Joli--come to me Notorious BIG--Big Poppa/One More CHance/Hypnotize WHoodini--Friends/Five minutes/Freaks come out at night Green Day--WHen I come around/September Art of noise--moments in love U2--Beautiful Day Glenn Miller--Moonlight Serenade Brian Setzer--sleepwalk Various--noche de ronda Various--perfidia Perez Prado--cherry pink and apple blossom white Sergio Mendes--mais que nada/agaua de beber Toco--gaurapiranga Sissy--start again AC/DC--jailbreak Metallica--Enter sandman
Too many more to mention. But I'm a scatterbrain with music and hop from genre to genre. I'm not the one my friends ask to make a CD mix of tunes for a party--I always piss off or bore too many.
Putting a favorite list together, off-hand, is a challenge. Virtually every song I like, I got from a movie. I'm not much of a music fan so I take music from movie scenes and it has a Skinner-like effect on me.
Anyway, I'll open up Music Hell and set it to randomize. The first fifteen songs will be my top 15. It's all the luck of the draw. =)
Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine. Orgy - Blue Monday (90s remake). Buffalo Springfield - For What It's Worth. Eminem - Sing For the Moment. Hurdy Gurdy Man - Donovan. The Buggles - Video Killed the Radio Star. Linkin Park - In the End. Franz Ferdinand - This Fire. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son. Papa Roach - Not Listening. Morphine - You Look Like Rain. Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit. Richie Valens - Come on, Let's Go. The Beach Boys - God Only Knows. Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield.
Here's one of my new faves. Make sure you don't give up before teh 2:10 mark, when the man, the myth, and the legend, Kiske kicks into overdrive and the song takes on the classic Helloween Keeper of the Seven Keys undertune.
I'm sure many will literally hate this, but for me, it's unfuckingbeleivable.
Some good choices there. I'm more of a 80s British new wave and punk gal. Classics I can't get enough of are:
Control/Transmission - Joy Division Blue Monday/Regret - New Order Rent/Left To My Own Devices - Pet Shop Boys EMI/Anarchy in the UK - The Sex Pistols BigMouth Strikes Again/This Charming Man - The Smith Everything Counts/Behind The Wheel/Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode Discipline - Throbbing Gristle Never Say Never - Romeo Void Bank Robber - The Clash Motorcycle Emptiness - The Manic Street Preachers Its Obvious - Au Pair Low Rider - War The Bottle - Gil Scott Heron Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus
I hate television. I hate it as much as peanuts. But I can't stop eating peanuts.
Love to see Das Scorpions and The Zoo, which is, of course, an all time classic song from an all time classic band celebrating their 50th anniversary, which is downright shocking.
We eat the night, we drink the time Make our dreams come true And hungry eyes are passing by On streets we call the zoo
