... have you read some of the scripts up here? no one heres going to be winning any screenplay awards anytime soon...

Sheesh, H.D.

If you want people to read your stuff you should avoid making "blanket" statements that attack every single author on the site -- it's very alienating.  Say "few will" or "most will not" -- but saying "No One" will offend everybody.

It's OK to say "there's alot of crapp on this site" -- that's true, in fact -- but when you say something like "it's all crapp"...well, then people feel attacked and will not like you.  Just saying, you know?

There's some real gems around here that you have obviously missed.  You should look for them.

I agree with Bert if I were to say we have a lot of crap members and one started this thread wouldn't you be offended?

But I haven't read many bad screenplays, maybe you should really think about telling these people through reviews instead of doing this underhanded bull that makes guys like me think you're time under the lava lamp is about finished.

Plus you forgot Phil, that guys probably got a few awards under his belt, the one guy who now has an IMDB page but if you forget all of those you may be right.

i'm not fanatical about screenwriting like you guys are... i've already admitted i'm not that great of a writer... its like drawing.. its a skill your born with... you have it or u dont. the ideas are there... but my writing cant pull it off in a believable way. its comes off stilted and corney.

and of course its not copyrighted...so im weary of posting on the net for all see.

maybe it was a bad thread to start.... i like feedback of all kinds...not snide remarks...

Sure, be happy to give you feedback. Just let us know which script is yours and we'd be happy to have a look and give you the feedback without the snide remarks.

And please don't misplace fanaticism with "working to work in that industry." I do what I do because I want to be a paid screenwriter in some capacity. The feedback I give will be to that aim to whomever I give it. If you want to call that fanaticism, so be it. By the same regard, when a student enters med school, he must be fanatical about medicine...

There may be some measure of natural talent that goes into the craft, but you can learn what to do. It takes more work and studying, but you can learn to write. You just have to be a little fanatical about it.

Fanatical? I'm offended that you take what we do and sum it up like that. Nobody on this site is fanatical about writing. They have passion, they have drive they care about their future but they aren't obsessed.

I have a real job and so do most outside of screenwriting, they want to be paid but they also have a life outside the writing.

A lot of us aren't "great" writers or we wouldn't be unproduced but we have things we do well. And that's the first step in making it somewhere. Nobody alone is a great writer but when you have a team the sky is the limit, look at Peter Jackson.

It's not my fault you made comments about everyone and can't back them up, I hope you find what you're looking for and don't start anymore stupid threads or they will be deleted.

I interpret this as you saying that you are not a good writer and you never will be.  If that's the case, why are you here?

Your problem is that you post all these ideas of yours.  Ask for advice.  And then move on to another idea.

And just because some of us are more serious about our writing than you, doesn't make us fanatics.  I've been published on-and-off for over twenty years.  I've won in competition and I'm having work produced.  I hope to make it a full time career.  I wouldn't have gotten this far if all I did was come up with half thought out ideas.

i love how everyone zeroed in on the word 'fanatical' all i meant was "serious"

i admit i'm a below average writer who has his moments....so i need a good writer to... "pick up the slack"  while still putting in my own two cents....

Hey Herodreamer
Just some thoughts.

One If you want someone to write for you, fully develop your ideas first so they know what they are writing for.

Two Show us you can stay on task and not jump from project to project.  No one wants to start on a project for someone else then have them jump off to something else and then another and another.

Three Get ideas that are good enough to write.

Four Give an incentive- most serious writers have more ideas than they know what to do with.  Why should we write for you.  Do you have a production studio, do you have a producer friend, do you have any connections at all that would make it worth it?

Five Why are you doing this if you can't write, perhaps you would be better off as a producer than a writer.

Six If you do want to write, try writing.  It takes a lot of hard work and practice and there are plenty of successful writers who did not have as much natural talent as others but worked very very hard at it.

Seven Most people dont want to carry others for the sake of carrying.  Make sure you have plenty to contribute before asking people of weeks or even months of their time to do YOUR project.

Good luck and I wish you all the best in your endevors.

I love how you don't know the difference between the words fanatical and serious.

I love how you constantly come up with ideas that you never finish.

I love how you have not commented on anyone's script in all the time you've been here.

I love how you admit you're a below average writer, say that we aren't good writers, ourselves, but constantly ask others for help in writing your bullshit ideas.

I've ranked myself as an average writer, you're only as good as your last review. I don't think I've gotten a review that said this sucks which is good because I don't like those not for the obvious reasons.

In depth reviews are more helpful, many in depth reviews have told me that I'm average which is great.

You want people to have low expectations but it's not our fault you don't concentrate on 1 idea. That's why they're bad because you have this need to write 8 things.

I also had this problem when I started and now have about 8 scripts sitting around that are weak because I gave them 20% at best and they need at least 80% to be up to par.

You don't need a co-writer, you need to focus and only you can do that.

You can't expect us to be like parents who say "Thats great!" every time you post an idea. That'll never get you anywhere, and it is a waste of our time, because we know that you aren't going to follow through on it. So what I would do, is, post a script and not your ideas. After we read one of your scripts, then post your next script. After that, post your next script. Just forget about posting your ideas!

-Me

PS: Go comment on other peoples scripts!!! And not just corny 1 liners that won't make a difference!

Classic example of sitting under the lava lamp.  I could get a lot of people posting if I posted photos of me killing a puppy.

Are you that starved for attention?

I'll tell you what, if you post a script, I'll give it an honest review.  How's that?

Ignorance is not bliss because these boards have not been dead lately, you just caused a reply not really a spike but you don't view other boards so I don't expect you to know anything.

You're attracting attention but the wrong kind, this kind of attention is how useless members get banned.

You aren't a write. All you do is post your ideas hoping to get a little attention. If you want to go and get attention, join the IMDB boards or something.
