oompa Loompa revolt is awesome. All the more reason to have monsters patrol the factory.  You got to have monsters. Monsters are cool. Plus A blue skinned female villian to boot.. Hey, this has got potential.

Violet would not be blue anymore...that was remedied when she was taken to the "juicing room", and Wonka himself said that all the kids would go back to their old lives, but a little more "wiser from the wear" or something to that effect.

Actually, she was still blue (and very flexible) when she left the factory.

I think Ape is basing this script on Tim Burton's 2005 version of the film, in which case Violet would still be very blue and very flexible. I think that's what he's up to anyway, I'm not really sure. Also Mike Teevee would be incredibly slender and tall, unless he had some kind of operation.

Ooooh you could have the operation not work and then he woulod be like a disgruntled cripple or something, that would be weird.

I can't remember the original movie, but wasn't Violet like that at the end as well? I haven't seen the original version in ages, so I couldn't really say.

Cheers, Chismeister.

Not much more I can add to this. I have seen both versions and thought they where great but only seen each once.

I am more of a Wizard Of Oz die hard fan myself. Watch that movie every year. One of the best villians in history of film.

Now if Tim Burton would just do a remake of OZ. He was born to do it.

Personally, I hated Burton's version of Willy Wonka. And in the 70's version, they never showed the aftermath of the kids, but Wonka did say they'd all be back to their old selves.

I think this is a great concept though, if it was done right. I don't think you should follow up with the Burton version though.

Just some ideas from my noggin is you could have Agustus recruited by Charlie to work in the factory (because of the oompa loompa strike perhaps) and he could be a spy for Violet, who still has side effects from being turned into a blueberry and wants revenge. And since Charlie has a dry spell of new creative recipes for new candy, with Agustus' help she creates a new gum that threatens the livlihood of the factory (maybe the now perfected three course dinner gum) and Varuca and Charlie need to put away their differences and band together against Violet.

And I like the diabetes angle, it's a nice touch. And Mike TV being a producer. And I think Grandpa Joe would be dead after ten years later, wouldn't he?

And you'd think that after twenty straight years in bed it would take months and months of therapy to get his legs moving again, but no he just leaps right up and starts dancing, singing in the original version. This is the world of Dahl. Well, I think what Ape is aiming for is a dark interpretation of it at least, so the normal rules don't apply. Some good ideas though, especially Charlie and Veruca teaming up.

I assumed we were as the thread is 'A Dark Charlie and the...' as oposed to 'A Dark Willie Wonka...'.  Also, Alex mentioned Violet being a world class fighter.  Her martial arts training was only mentioned in the second film.

I like all these ideas. I'll write a new synopsis tomorrow including all or most of the ideas. Although I didn't mind Burton's interpretation myself, I wanted to carry on from just the general view of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Getting a pretty good response with this idea, Ape.

Now the pressure is on. You actually have to get this written.

People are waiting. I sure as hell am.

Cheers, Chismeister.

I thought about that a little while after posting.  I think my personal preference to the original clouded my viewpoint a little.

I mean c'mon, Johnny Depp was nowhere near as good as Gene Wilder.

They were two completely different movies (though both based on the same book).  You can't really compare them.

I liked both versions of the movie equally, I was never really a massive fan of the original, but I like them both. But Depp's Wonka is just weird, creepy sometimes in fact. I think he and Tim Burton made some odd choices, but overall it was an enjoyable film. I think Depp was going for something entirely different than Wilder. And of course you get two different, yet equally as impressive performances.

It's all up to Ape which Wonka he writes in the script. If he is indeed the one who is going to write it. I'm not sure if he wants to get someone else to do it based on his synopsis.
