You may find that having to work to someone else's idea and a set period will be just what you need.
I don't know if this is true or not, but there is a story that Tolstoy had writer's block. So he took someone else's novel and began to rewrite it - as he went along, it ceased to bear any resemblance to the original book. It became "Anna Karenina".
You never know, writing to someone else's suggestion might be just the thing to help you make the breakthrough.
Already working on someone else's suggestion. And, story, altogether. Mentioned it a couple posts up. Coming along slowly, but it's getting there. All of 10 pages in.
But where is Jonny? He is supposed to be behind this - is he still going to give us a theme? I think he said on another thread that he was having trouble with the feature he mentioned working on - so he may now not be interested in this.
If not, I suggest those of us interested agree to write a feature in a set period (November) and see what happens.
Still here. I am having trouble with a feature, but I'm determined to get this up and running.
Now that the OWC is over - congrats to all who entered, by the way, it appears to have been really popular again - we can look to get started on this. I still have a theme complete with different options for those who want it, although there is a 'whatever you want' option, too.
I'm still keen to have a crack at this Jonny. At first i thought whatever the theme is might make it tougher but now i like the idea. I produce heaps more stuff under the pressure deadline: the OWC's a good case in point. Of course whether said work is a better quality is anyone's opinion.
I would maybe like to look a collab for this one, even if say, three or four of us had a crack. I don't know how it would work but we could suggest things.
Okay, I'll be posting the theme at 13:00 GMT tomorrow - think that works out as 8:00am, SimplyScripts Time.
In terms of organisation, I'm not thinking of having a sort of week-by-week, 'do this for then' framework. We'll get the theme, we'll have a thread to keep discussion/encouragement going, and the final deadline will be December 21st - how you divide your six weeks is up to you. I also don't think the scripts should be anonymous, since people will probably want to discuss their ideas as they progress.
Finally, you don't have to be around tomorrow in order to take part. You can jump in at any time - just make sure your script is ready for Dec 21st!
