UPDATE:

I'm in the process of posting the OWC scripts.

Note:

1. The names are assigned randomly.  Do NOT read anything in it.
2. I'll be posting them in batches of five or so over the next twelve hours.
3.  When all the scripts are up, I'll notify the writers and update this posting indicating that all the scripts are up.
4. I've not indicated whether the writer is a long time member or new member to the board.  This go around none of the folks who didn't write reviews in the last OWC submitted scripts, so everyone has a clean slate.

What's up my scribes?

Sorry I couldn't take part in this edition.  Slammed with work and putting the finishing touches on my newest feature script.

I'll still drop by to read some of the masterpieces next week.  I'll be interested to see who went against the grain and put a new twist on the theme.  Hopefully most refrained from the obvious.

Write on...

Mine is the one that, when you read it, you'll think this script could really use a twenty-seven page girls' shower room scene in it.

I feel like that too...so I'm glad someone else mentioned it...although I'm sure Don has his hands full posting them all with 30 (maybe more) screenplays submitted.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Mine is entitled, Dirty Cheerleaders in Uncle Shelton's Shower of Horror.

Unfortunately, the shower scene was deleted for reasons of space.  So the story may not make much sense.

I already wrote one of those! It was an intense 2 pager.

I sure you could probably increase that to 3 pages if you worked at it.

MBCgirl,

Glad you enjoyed the challenge and glad that you read all the scripts.  As for voting.  There isn't any voting.  One script is selected to be audio performed by iScript.com.  The selection process will involve me reading all the scripts then giving four or five to two Young Adults I  know and having them read them and telling me which one they liked best.

Good point pia. But the October 31st does point at horror. The warning, I have no idea about.

This was an open end assignment in my interpretation and people took it to new angles.

I agree! ... now let me make sure i didn't go type that. I dont think i did.

There's a few scripts particulary that were amazing for completing in a week. I for one know i busted my ass. And people complain how its not horror. Where was horror suggested, what warning do you frikken need?!

To include a warning and a characters response AND how he deals with a difficult situation in thirteen pages is insane. I would imagine using "CUT TO" galore with that one.

Anyway, <3 me.

I think it is possible to do fulfill all the requirements within 13pgs. The person will only need more than a week to accomplish that task. What people need to remember is that this is all in the name of fun and challenging oneself for improvement.

I've read a few entries now and their comments.
Why do people comment on things like "this wasn't horror" "where's the warning?'...

Where did it say this had to be horror or there had to be a warning?????????

The genre was young adult horror - that's where the horror comes in.  I don't understand why people are asking about warnings.

It only says that the two kids know the truth...and I guess that is in the vast array of interpretations of this exercise.   With it being my first screenplay...I am enjoying all of this as I think I have learned a ton of things.  I have also learned that everyone has a different opinion about some "specifics"...and that's okay too.

I for one certainly appreciate the input I am getting as it is a learning curve for me...just wish I had more critiques.   My pals and those opinions I respect on this site don't know which one is mine, so maybe when it is all over with I can ask you to offer your constructive criticism at that time...unless you get to mine before the end of the week *wink

It's been fun to read so many...and no matter how it turns out...I think this site offers a lot to everyone who participates.

Thanks again Don for the opportunity!

Guess it's an interpretation..."2 kids know the truth" - leads to them doing something about knowing the truth...like warning the town, or whatever.  Maybe there was some misinterpretation?  But if you know the truth about an "invasion", doesn't it kinda make sense that you'd do something about it?  That was my take on it for sure.

The horror part was right in the genre though.

I'm surprised people are asking "where is the hoax?" on some of these. As I read it there's only supposed to be something people think is a hoax, not an actual hoax.

I've not seen one yet that I'd point at and say "that failed the challenge". Some have emphasized different elements, but they are all in the ballpark.

As far as I'm concerned, MOST missed the mark completely in terms of what was stated as requirements.  If there's a hoax, that means that someone is saying something that others don't believe to be true...right?

If there's an actual "invasion" going on (like the requirements stated), a hoax means (to me at least) that someone is saying something about something going on, that no one beleives.  That's where the "warning" comes in.

Does that not make sense?  Again, I guess it's up to what you read into what the requirements were, but it's pretty clear to me. But then again...what make sense to me, doesn't always make sense to everyone ( or anyone) else.

Whatever people strived for, I think the actual story and writing is what is driving the critiques.  At least I hope that's the case.

Everyone that submitted a script in 1 week should be applauded.  That's the bottom line.

Congrats to everyone here.  No need to get all wigged out.

I interpreted a hoax to be a trick. So the scripts have tricks that everybody thinks are tricks, but actually they are real.

Invasion is one of those words that has a well recognized central meaning but it also has a wider meaning. The following definition from the internet catches it:
1. The act of invading, especially the entrance of an armed force into a territory to conquer.
2. A large-scale onset of something injurious or harmful, such as a disease.
3. An intrusion or encroachment.

So you’d have to try quite hard not to meet the criteria!

There we go then.

Looks like we could have written a YA script about a guy "invading" his girlyfriend.  She could have thought it was a hoax, but if he really "tried", it would have "satisfied" the definition.

Hmmm...where am I going here?  OK, enough...

Could be the water...or the vodka...not sure.

Let's set sail.  Ski season's approaching quickly. If I'm gonna go on a frickin' cruise, I need to get my groove on (and in)  and get off (and out) ASAP.  Snow's falling in the mountains, and I need to get me to a mountain mansion with a few of the rich, dumb, and infamous...

I love words and the fact that when the page is blank...there's nothing there until words are formulated in my brain. Those thoughts...rushing through my viens and out my finger tips, find "life" on the page.

When people and places come to life...that to me is exciting.

Hey now...not what I was asking for.

Sorry!  Please don't kill me quick. I didn't mean it.  It was the water, I think.

I'm OK now. I really am.  Can't we discuss this?   I'll be good...like YA good.

I sure hope the bartender has a GOD supply of Jagie and wadka on hand.  Maybe I need that Nurse Nancy from "Chime" and her sharp little needle...no...I probably don't need tha...I'd be dead then.

I don't want to die...I've got way too many mountains...and...other things to conquer.

Damn...I've got $25 Million from my 2 ex-wives...2 ex-dead wives...

Aaaayyyyeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm assuming after Halloween, submissions will be back up and running for other scripts?
