I'm glad it wasn't an Avatar sweep. The visuals were amazing, but the story was mediocre.

I would have liked to to see IB get a couple more awards...

SPOILER ALERT - if you don't already know. But, how could you not?!

**********

Yes! - Kathryn Bigalow is the first woman to win Best Director honours for 'Hurt Locker' & then 'Best Picture' as well! And, competing against ex-hubby. What more could you want. It's one for the girls in the arena of Hollywood, which is, let's face it largely a 'Boys Club'. Huge step forward. I, for one, am thrilled.

Oh, and for the boys - I think Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin did an excellent job hosting.

I thought Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin did a pretty good job of presenting what's always a tough gig.

I liked the way people spoke about the nominees of the Best Actor and Best Actress awards prior to the announcement of the winner. It was much better than just hearing a presenter read their names off a card. I was also happy to see Jeff Bridges win the Best Actor award. I really enjoyed his acceptance speech. Plus, I only saw Crazy Heart yesterday, so I was still pumped about it.

On the negative side, I thought not reading out the nominees for the Best Picture award was a bit of a slap in the face for the nominees.  The running time might be an issue, but rushing the speeches and not reading out nominees isn't the best way to speed it up. There must be other less important things they could cut out instead.

I know it was locked tight, (like all the acting categories) but I was really underwhelmed by Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart as well as the film itself. He has put in far superior performances in the past, in my opinion.

Reminds me of Scorsese winning for "The Departed", a good film but the man has done better, again, just my opinion. Both being salutes to their body of work rather then the the actual role/film in question.

Delighted for Kathryn Bigalow though.

Naturally I'm delighted. Been backing Hurt Locker as my film of the year ever since I saw it last summer, and now it's won 6 Academy Awards! Call it a political decision if you like, but I've always said it's a better film than Avatar, and now it has the awards to prove it.

Hooray!

Guess who's back? Back again?

I agree its a better film then Avatar but awards never proved sh?t, Jonny, Titanic being a great example.

Rocky winning best picture and best director over Network and Taxi Driver with Scorsese not even being nominated. A big WTF! goes out to that decision. I do second your "Hooray!" though.

I thought the show itself was rather boring. No real surprises. I'm glad Hurt Locker and Bigalow won. Well deserved.
