Ya Kermode does rattle on about it alot to the point of tiresome. While I enjoyed Avatar I can't say I'm 3D's biggest fan either. At the end of the day it is just a gimmick, a novelty but not the much proclaimed "future" of motion pictures...at least I hope not.

MK's recent vid on Love Actually almost made me vomit. Utter toss wahnk of a movie (albiet with some great actors and a few good scenes) but it still sucked like a granny who can't find her teeth. The scene at the beginning about Sept 11 deserves Curtis a good shot on the jaw at the least.

I quote from Line 7 of his opening gambit...

Quoted from Shite Actually
Fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives,

boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends.

When the planes hit the Twin Towers,

none of the phone calls from people on board were messages of hate or revenge,

hey were all messages of love.

lf you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around.'

LOVE ACTUALLY

"I feel it in my fingers

Then that fecking song by Wet What Wahnk. Oh my. Where's me lump hammer? Usually Kermode gives a half decent job. Credit where it's due but everyone messes up sometimes.

Don't get me wrong. Love's a fantastic thing. But this rose tinted sentimental fantasy cack stuff just don't cut it. Not even close.

But I tend to agree with a lot of what MK says about Avatar and 3D. I still rate his Transformers review as almost genius. I watch it to cheer myself up when I've finished watching yet another dog's leg of a movie. Then I watch the last five minutes of The Long Good Friday just to remind myself what proper acting and proper films actually look like. Love it. Actually I do. So there Dickey. You ain't written a decent film since Four Weddings. And that sailed pretty close to cackland at the best of times.

They were waxing lyrical about 3D TV today on da radio. Two grand a pop a 3D tv. And you get the glasses free. Wow! Well. Woopey deedah doo.

I'll buy two then watch 4D. Or I could just get drunk and watch me regular telly. Far cheaper and way more effective. Lot more an all I bet.

I'd say the treedee gimmick's wearing off for the wise. Naturally directors wanna go. Of course they do. But even the studios aren't showing faith. And the cinema chains ain't investing in yet another dead duck. Not in this climate.

Now. Where is my tv remote?

Terrible review. Not funny and completely failed to make a decent point. This coming from somebody who can sorta see where he's coming from. That said, I think the film is commendable for the amount of time and effort spent on the 3D. I saw Alice in Wonderland in 3D last night and thought it was pretty lackluster. It looks great the first 10 minutes or so then you just sorta forget it's there. Avatar didn't feel that way at all.

So yeah. This British dude sucks.

This guy, on the other hand, did a fantastic job breaking down Avatar. Way funnier and infinitely more informative. Also, strangely much more fair and less blatantly scathing (after the intro anyway). Even if you loved Avatar, I'd still check this out if you have the time. Agree or disagree, this guy was pretty thorough and has a much more creative style than this other douche.

British critic or not, he sucks. He's the only British critic I know at this point but that's neither here nor there. I guess it wasn't important but what's the deal? I tend to suck at detecting this kind of sarcasm on message boards.

Yes. But can you suck a tennis ball thru a hose. And how long was the hose?

Just heard an interesting programme on the radio. Balt's points on Titans were confirmed. And one fella said we have perfectly good scripts made in faultless 3D. It's called 'theatre'.

He also said that 3D, Twatter, sorry Twitter and Apple's current domination over media technology news will pass soon enough. Just as hoola hoops, flared trousers, The Osmonds and Bros did.

I think he may be right.

James

This is a pretty stupid clip of him but he is actually a very good critic, you should check out his podcast on itunes. Sometimes sensational, controversial and overly harsh while other times completely on the money and a pillar of sense...but either way he is always entertaining. Don't let this put you off him.

This guy is just a no talent douche who is jealous of people with waaaaaaaaaay more talented than him.  Anyone can sit in their parents basement, jerk off to animie and bitch about shit, it takes real talent to go out and do the best job they can do.  These are the kind of people that I pity!

That was more than a bit embarrassing to be fair.

Clearly there is a difference of opinion over 3D, but I've found it elevates the viewing experience to a considerable degree and is therefore a good thing. Regardless of the faults with Avatar..it was easily the most immersive experience I've had in a cinema and if others don't get the benefit of the added depth of vision...I find that unfortunate.. but each to their own.

Is it the future? Maybe not...but I think that immersive technology can only benefit a narrative/passive experience and so it's a step in a direction that needs to take place in some capacity.

Yeah, who said Kermode was all about anime?

Plus, I'm pretty sure he has his own basement to wank in.

And why do people always jerk off in basements anyway, or said to be jerking of in their basement. One's bedroom is far more convenient and comfortable.

In the basement. You're having a laugh CK.

Personally I do it wherever the sun don't shine. But it all depends on the mood. Sometimes I'm fond about talking about it. As our others.

Be chatting ya soon fella. You keep cooking. Smells Good.

Personally, I didn't mind Avatar so much. The effects were amazing and it was my first "3D experience" as they say, so I was bound to be impressed. The story on the other hand, while keeping my entertained for the 2.5+ hours duration wasn't anything ground breaking while containing the usual Cameron tropes. And, as its being well documented, a total rip off of other sources. I mean, I won't be going back to watch it anytime soon.

Still, there was some originality in there but again that was mainly tied up in the visual aspect, particularly of Pandora itself and its wildlife, those were my favourite parts.

As well as selling sh?tloads when it comes out on dvd I can see it becoming a big "head" film in the future, similar to 2001 or Alice In Wonderland.
