Not quite how it works. First you need someone you trust to post the links. Otherwise it will not be anonymous, and what's the point.
Second, you need someone to give you a logline or a topic. Otherwise you might send in some old short.
As far as 12hrs, the problem is this: we don't want to read crap. The shorter the time given, the greater the likelihood of crap. 48 hrs is more reasonable.
I have no idea what either one of you guys' style is. I agree with Kevin except for there should be a short time limit. I remember when a director came by here and wanted a short for a hospital he had available to him for two days. He needed a script in 3 hours. I wrote one, they ended up not shooting anything, but someone else shot mine. Turned out great.
Many of us have never read your work, so we won't know your style at all. I've only read a little of Dustin's work, not enough that I would recognize his voice. Anonymous is always best.
And you know, I've been involved in a lot of sports leagues in my day, including bar sports such as pool and darts. The guys that talk a lot of smack are always pretty good...but never really good. That's been my experience. They beat up on the lower level players, but they always fall to the really good ones.
Eh, it doesn't have to be anonymous. I could spot Dustin's writing a mile away. I could never read through any of his scripts without flat out getting frustrated with the characters and the story. He reminds me very much of Norman Scribbler AKA courhaw.
I've written a feature in 8 days and 10 page shorts are done in a day, a working day which is 6 hours. That makes 3 hours for a 5 page short easily manageable. To do it on the spot and make a cohesive, non-cliched story is certainly a challenge. After reading your squid-in-the-brain idea, I'm not in the least bit intimidated by your sparse, underwritten style.

You're not even on my radar, reaper. You fly too low.
It has to be anonymous. the fact that people can spot my style is neither here nor there. I've clearly lost the popularity vote. That always happens when I deal with idiots. I have no patience for them, you see.
^Oh boy. You'll point me to post 23? C'mon, boycott, now's the tim to stop talking and start writing, Just need somebody to pick three randowm words.
Okay? Okay.
I have four children and two dogs, I've also got a business to run that puts food on the table. You may be able to rush about doing whatever you want, but I have to organise things.
I'm also not happy with the rules yet. So calm the fuck down.
