How about an unofficial OWC like we did last year this time?   Only this time instead of getting one in before the end of the year, it will be to get one in before the end of the world.

I'll announce a theme around midnight  on December 14th and you will submit your script by midnight on December 21st.   If we make it through the night then we will all have something to read for at least the next week.

If this sounds like something you would participate in then post in this thread so I can judge the interest level.

Cheers,

Michael

It's all dependent on the theme to be honest Michael. If it seems like something I can punch out quickly, I'll definitely have a go.

Michael,

I'll definetly participate. I've never done the OWC before so I'll be looking for it if you decide to kick it off.

I agree with Dan, Michael. If it's a topic I can get behind, I'll certainly do it. Not to mention you picked some perfect timing. I'll have just finished my semester then, so I'll be completely free to take part. =)

The what now, Michael? Damn that's a long title.

To take part in this little challenge or go Christmas shopping...Oh, the choices!

I wouldn't mind taking part but I'm with Dan on this one. I'll wait to see what the theme is before committing.

A cracking idea all the same though. Hope a few peeps take part.

The theme will be worth it.  I'm pretty sure no one will have a problem coming up with something for it.   I can tell you right now the theme won't be 21/12, I have a better idea in mind.   The genre will be open.

Like last  year I will have a look although with a few projects on the go, i can't be certain. Still fond of last years ULOWC script, true myth - indeed, nice to come away with something that you remember.

One suggestion is to limit the page count to say 8, so that they are short and sweet. Less obligation may appeal. Just a thought.

Cheers

The timing of this unofficialness could work out for me.
If it's a theme the fires of my synapses, I can likely crank something out.

If I can do one quick, I'll try. If there are too many parameters, like the last one, it's just too hard to check everything off the list. This not only makes it more work, but it makes it not fun, as every good idea that pops into your head fails some part of the requirement. I'm game for trying!

I'll be really pissed if this really is the end f the world and I spent it neglecting my family and writing.

Not like I'm doing much else before the world ends anyway.

And I came down with Strepp during the October challenge and couldn't participate. I was pretty mad.

I would want to participate but won't be able to read the scripts the week after. We leave on 22 and come back on 29. From 29 on I can read anything but wouldn't that be too late?

We wanted to get the tickets for 21st by the way but got cautious

I'm guessing the theme is something to do with...an ending and, humm let me think, a large place. I just feel it in my waters.

Of course Michael will now throw us a curve ball in that's it has to be set in a shopping centre, on a Sunday morning, and involve a vicar and a muppet plus the line, "who's the daddy now!". Other than that, its open.

Theme: the Mayan end of the world

Genre: any, but comedy would be nice

Criteria: Minimum of 6 billion doomed characters. At least 2 million must be female and in wheelchairs. Mimes are optional but must be wearing very short denim cutoffs. Opening scene must be set in rundown motel, preferably in Florida close to Pia's house.

The penultimate scene must show Tom Brady having the shit smashed out of him by the Niners D.
The world can be destroyed in the last shot but please keep the budget to about 10k. A cheaper alternative can be used: something like...an Aussie saves the day at the last minute by finding the Mayan relic that halts the apocalypse, the Niners win the Super Bowl, Villa win the F.A. Cup, etc.

Good luck all!

What a great fan I am! Didn't even know Villa played last night until I read this.

But yeah, you're right. 4-1 is a cracking result and with Arsenal also dropping out - you never know...

Villa might just win it!

I was just having some fun. I amuse myself, that's all that counts.

There better not be any soccer in the football thread! Not the real football thread.

Actually I think there is a soccer thread too.

I like waffles, Khamanna. Not as much as lager, though.

Some red spots can be more than simply "red spots"  I've seen a red spot or more that I really enjoyed.
