Quoted Text And Garland is an amazing writer |
Are you serious? I think 28 days later sucked. My wife and I walked out during the middle of the movie. We gave it another chance when it was on cable and it sucked once again and we turned it off. I finally did see the whole movie through out different times. And I wish I didn't. Anyway. End of rant. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I am glad Halo is not using this guys script and someone elses. |

Well, he's saying all the right things early in the game. Let's see where it goes from here.

Universal and Fox have just packed out over budgetary disputes or something. Some kind of issue with the budget of the salaries of all the people involved. Apparently filmmakers are all for telling stories until how much money they get is called into question. Ha ha. Maybe they'll give up on this stupid idea of a movie. Woop! Woop!
Cheers, Chism. |

Yeah, i really don't see a point to adapting Halo at this point. I do love the game but i dont play it for the solid story if you get my meaning. |

I think its just for making money off of a very popular game. It's obviously just going to be a non-stop action flick... which I don't mind because I love to sit and watch a good action flick... as long as it has a bit of a storyline that is feasible (in a way). The only thing I'm worried about is the grunts... they were a little stupid and funny, which made the game, for me, a little less serious. Meaning the film will be less serious to me. |

It is possible to have a decent adaptation of this game. Someone on these boards wrote one once, and I remember reading it. It was pretty good, had some decent plotting and character and all the good stuff. I think he may have taken it down, since I can't find it anywhere. He based it off the game and some books that were based around the game. |

I remember that too. I read it... written by a member called Another Writer if I'm not mistaken. He hasn't been around for a good while now though. His adaptation was brilliant in my eyes. Something I wouldn't mind to have seen in the cinema as Halo The Movie... it's a shame if he's taken it down. |

I stumbled across this on Film Threat. FOX AND UNIVERSAL SAY "HELL NO!" TO "HALO" (2006-10-20) Despite the participation of executive producer Peter Jackson, Fox and Universal have pulled the plug on the funding for the videogame-to-movie adaptation of XBox mainstay "Halo."
According to Ken Kamins, Peter Jackson's agent, "What happened was this: Universal, on behalf of both studios, asked for a meeting with the filmmakers just prior to the due date of a significant payment. Basically, they said that in order to move forward with the film, the filmmakers had to significantly reduce their deals. They waited until the last minute to have this conversation. Peter and Fran, after speaking with their producing partners and with Microsoft and Bungee (the studio that designed the original game), respectfully declined."
So no go for "Halo."Here's a more complete version on Variety that was linked from that Film Threat page |

Here's another part of that same article... As word of the U and Fox exit spread, speculation centered around the inexperience of "Halo" helmer Neill Blomkamp, a 27-year-old first-time feature director.
"Everybody is supremely confident in Neal," Kamins said. "Part of what excited Peter and Fran was Neal's vision. We're very confident this film will move forward with the creative partners intact, who will take the film to production." Wow, is it Neill or Neal? C'mon, which amateur wrote this? Nevermind. Still, I'm pretty sure there'll be a studio that'll sign on Halo. It's big money that can't be missed. Personally, I hope it happens... it's probable that it's gonna happen sometime, whether it be after the third, forth or tenth instalment of the game. |

Looks like the Halo movie has been officially halted. Peter Jackson and Microsoft's WingNut Films has released the following statement saying that production has halted:
Quoted from WingNut Films As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement. At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen. We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp's vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminary work on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait. |

I never got why people liked these games so much. But then again, I've never really been one for video games. Movies could be good to look at though. Maybe.

Microsoft recently threw a huge bash to kick off their E3 conference right. During this event they previewed part of their new ad campaign for the film. A live-action Halo short. This gives you a look at what a "Halo" film would've looked like had Universal and Fox not dumped it. The short was directed by Neil Blomkamp. One-time Halo director, with assistance from Peter Jackson's WETA Digital. Head over to Bungie's site to watch the video yourself. ( scroll down to "Halo: Arms Race") |
