I have to say, I am very surprised at how good this looks. Early rumors talked of aliens instead of demons, no Mars whatsoever, and a strange virus subplot. Well, those where either false or someone at the studio realized that that was not the way to go because from the look of this teaser, it is very faithful to the game. Surprisingly, I can't wait to see this now. Head over here to see what could be the best looking "Aliens" knock-off ever: http://filmforce.ign.com/ |

Have to admit I loved the games.
If they make a film, it better be gory and scary.
I dont hold many hopes for it though, but this would be the first game-to-film that I might actually be bothered about going to see.

Just watched the trailer, it looks ok. Im not a huge fan of The Rock by any means but I suppose he is well cast for the role.
I just hope they put at least some effort in making the atmosphere similar to what the game had.

I think it looks cool.
I remember when this game really took off - I could remember thinking about writing a script about it... |

I really dig that new trailer. The FPS sequences look pretty cool. Something about that shot of the gun reloading reminded me of "Evil Dead." And I especially enjoyed that chainsaw scene towards the end. Looks cool. |

There's also a new sort of featurette on ign about the FPS sequences. Again, I don't know what it is, but I find myself not being able to wait to see this one. I always used to say that it was probably going to be "Silent Hill" that was going to do for video-games what "X-Men" and "Spider-Man" did for comic books. But, from the looks of this one, that honor will (hopefully) go to "Doom." |

Yeah, I like the poster.
It will be interesting to see how the whole 1st person aspect sequences will play on the big screen, but it should be interesting.
I'll pay to see this. |

Anybody else see the new trailer on television? It shows some of the villains and one sits up in a bodybag ripping it open. It looks like it could be a good game adaptation or at least good enough to garner a half decent DVD release unlike other films that did bad.
People seem to judge films based on the actor and not the film itself, I like The Rock whether he's a gimmick wrestling star or an action star or a gay wannabe actor.
The one thing I'll say before I go see this October 21st when I believe the commercial said it's coming out is that they didn't put much thought into character names. (Goat, Reaper, Sarge)
Hopefully it's a good film and they don't already have sequel plans because jumping the gun is a sure sign of eventual failure. |

I agree with just about all of your point, Wesley, except for the character names. I think they really want to make people know that this is not high-art. What is interesting is that they did the same thing for the new "Project Greenlight" film, "Feast." One look at the imdb listing for the film shows that the main character is actually named, "Hero." But, back to "Doom," I do find it interesting that the writer of the film, Dave Callaham, is only 28 and that this is his first feature film to be produced. Rarely do you see a relatively young writer have his first assignment be a big budget, sci-fi action film. To that end, I wish him luck and hope that the movie does turn out well in the end. |

Yeah, I mean names aren't really a high priority when I watch something (And I guess since you called a character The Willie) you probably wouldn't care as well about character names. I just thought I'd bring it up though but one look at the IMDB listing some of those characters actually have real names.
I will see this film first day it's out unless I can't get a ride but oherwise they better not make me regret paying 15 bucks for a ticket and even more for food.
I don't go to many theatre releases, last film was Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and I've only went 4 times before that going back about 8 years ha-ha Star Wars, The Village, I, Robot and the final Lord of the Rings but now since I'm making bacon without a pig named Macon I'll go out more often.
Fingers crossed Doom looks as if they took an authentic feel and didn't beef it up as they did with other films like Street Fighter and Resident Evil to a point where they could change the name and be original but instead went for using the name and ruining the money because of fan backlash. |

Sadly I've spent the last day watching season two and that rhyme just fit with what I was saying, South Park is the source of life for the industry. Just give Trey and Matt some money, they'll make a good film and not even pay voice actors because they are men of a million voices. |

Comes out today, I plan on seeing it after school. I played Doom 3 last night and got really excited about this movie, but then I remembered Scorpion King. -Zavier |
