yeah I'm a sucker for the Resident Evil series as well. They're not great by any means but they are fun popcorn time killing movies. I look foreword to this one and hey if they do a 4th, I sadly will go see it as well lol
Gah! I hate the resident evil series. Paul anderson sucks. Resident evil was done totally wrong and this movie will just be a bunch of bullshit. I just pray to god...that he doesn't make a mess out of castlevania, 'cause that is an awesome game.
First of all, I love zombies. That is, the concept of re-animation, the complete soullesness of someone you used to know. I also love the contagion of it, how you know if you get bitten you're gonna die...and come back.
That said, I can count on one hand the zombies films I've really liked. In fact, had I only four fingers I'd still be able to pull that one off.
Night of The Living Dead
28 Days Later
Dawn of the Dead 04
Shaun of the Dead
I kinda like Rabid and Re-animator too, but they're still way behind, and not truly zombie films (which I guess goes for 28 days later as well)
The first Resident Evil movie wasn't very good, but it grows on you on repeat viewings when you know what to expect and get over the fact that they fucked up the concept.
But Apocalypse...man, I had to watch that one twice to make sure it was really that bad. It's crazy-bad. It's Ghost of Mars-bad. It's so bad it was almost good and then went back to bad again.
Well you get the picture.
I have dim hopes, but hopes nevertheless, for the third incarnation of the series. The pics look really great, and the cast have publicly said that Russel Mulcahey was a welcome change from Alexander Witt, and it seems like there's a good vibe around it.
That being said, I guess the best I can hope for is something as un-bad as the first one, which means a brainless, yet entertaining thrill-ride - best not questioned. Which is okay, but Resident Evil could've been so much more.
On a sidenote, the Romero script I read on this site wasn't much better. but then again, I'm of the conviction that Romero hasn't made a good film since 'Night'...

If you head on over to Horror-Movies.ca you can check out footage from the set of Resident Evil: Extinction, which is mostly a day in the life of a zombie in the hell-like heat of Mexico.

note:The video quality isn’t the best, but still interesting.
Though earth and man are gone, I thought the cube would last forever. I WAS WRONG.
I'm not a fan of Paul Anderson either (although I liked Soldier)
I'm just very curious to see Russell Mulcahy direct this... I haven't seen any of his work since The Shadow. Him taking over after Alexander Witt's awful version is a step up.
I sort of liked Apocalypse. It was better than the first one. Although it didnt have that awesome Marilyn Manson music. That creepy Resident Evil theme.
I saw the trailer for this movie during the previews of Ghost Rider (and I have to say, the trailer was probably the only thing I enjoyed throughout my entire sit of Ghost Rider), and it looks awesome.
It starts out with all these world monuments (the Eiffel Tower, pyramids, Egyptian dog heads (or whatever those things are that look like half dogs half humans), Washington monument, etc.) in the desert halfway covered with sand, and it pulls out to be in the U.S., and then things go crazy with Mexican zombies and whatnot... In fact, you can view the trailer here.
Gosh this film looks intense and I cannot wait to see an actual theatrical trailer for it.
She may look to old to play fifteen, but in real life she's only sixteen. So it's not like it's a huge stretch.
Matt.
No, she's 15 (almost 16) in real life. What I meant was, I think she looks too old to be that age in real life, and it makes me uncomfortable. To clarify, this probably stems from an encounter I had with a girl who persuaded me she was 20, and well...she was not.
15 year-olds just didn't look like that when I was that age.
But I've never actually seen her in anything, besides Monster House and that was just her voice, so maybe her publicity photos are misleading. I'll wait and see.

This actually doesn't look to bad but I wont get my hopes up cos the first two were terrible.
A little off topic but I too had a close shave once a few years back when I pulled a lass in a club, I found out she was 15! Lucky escape for me, Jesus I could be in jail now.
Check out my scripts...if you want to, no pressure.
