With the success of Batman Begins, this film seems more and more likely.
When will this film happen? Christian Bale told the IESB during the Batman Begins press junket that Superman vs Batman could happen down the line but not as an immediate sequel but instead after a few more Batman solo successes.
When Bruce Wayne goes out seeking bloody vengeance on the murderer of his new bride, Jennifer. Superman opposes him, fights him to the near death - then it's discovered that the guy behind Jennifer's murder is also this big baddie in Superman's circle and they unite to fight.
So will Christian Bale and Brandon Routh team up for this "clash of the titans?" Rumors have persisted that both actors contracts have a clause for such option if both franchises end up being successful.

I would love to see this film get the greenlight, I think everyone would love to see two of the world's most iconic superheroes battle it out. It would be something we have never seen before.
I read the script review for BVS and thought it was very good, but I think Warner Bros. were right to re-launch both franchises first. Wolfgang Peterson was attached to direct and even though they shelved the project, he said he would still love to direct it when the time is right.
So I think it is inevitable that these two titans cross paths. Its just a question of time... |

I would have doubts about such a match-up. Superman is this all-powerful being, while Batman is just a man. Superman could bench press him and run circles around him. I'm not sure how Batman could hold his own against Superman beyond Superman saying "I don't want to kill you" and holding back. |

I'd have to agree. Unless Batman got his hands on some Kryptonite which would be the same situation except Batman having the upper hand. Personally, I don't know why they'd be fighting in the first place. |

Batman beat Superman in 'The Dark Knight,' and he beat the Hulk in 'Batman vs. The Hulk.' He would win against Superman because he's smarter, craftier and knows that he can't kill Superman. That means he can do whatever he wants to him.

I think mixing the "Superman world" and all of it's villians with the well established world in "Batman Begins" is ridiculous. Batman feels like it's more of real world setting with the new series beginning and from the sound of things Superman will probably be in a grander more colorful setting battling some type of Alien beings.
Regardless of how it worked in the comics, in a film an actualy one on one fight batman would get dropped. But that's the appeal of Batman from the beginning. Superman is not a well liked super hero. He's that kid at school who was nice, good in sports, and in school that everybody hates. He has only one weakness which limits his possibilities in creating interesting twists. While Batman can take a beating from his villains. It may be a comic book geek's dream come true, but as a non comic book reader I can safetly say it would be really really stupid. |

Just to say, I really disliked The Dark Knight. I thought it sucked through and through, but I also only know I'm one of maybe 10 people who think this.
Maybe if BATMAN got his hands on a Kryptonite knuckle-dusters that'd work alittle!
Still love to see BATMAN vs SUPERMAN either way! |
| I'm looking for an easy-to-produce, low-budget ($7,000) script to be shot in the U.K. Any genre. FEATURE LENGTH ONLY! |

You're assuming that this would be like a boxing match where the two would simply punch it out. The ring would be in Gotham City and/or Metropolis. And the only rules would be the ones that Superman chooses to follow. Phil |

I haven't ever been a really big Super-man fan. But if they do this right I think it'll turn out awesome. I agree with Phil when it comes to the fight scenes. It would be where they punch the heck out of each other and then its over. I think, if done right, it'll be a lot more awesome than people think it will. |

The 'fight' will more than likely be one preventing the other from reaching an objective. It'll be a battle of wits and resources.

I see what your saying, that does sound more interesting, then the two plain fighting in the streets. But you have to understand for a non comic book reader it's very hard to imagine the concept working well. It probably is or else the comic fanbase wouldn't be excited about it. From a movies fan point of view (whose comic knowlege goes as far as what the movies theyre made into) it's a silly concept.
If you could point me to a comic that does do the superman vs. batman thing well please do. I would read it. After all comics are very adaptable to film. |

The Dark Knight Returns miniseries had an actual fight in it. The Man of Steel mini-series by John Byrne was more of a battle of wits. Kingdom Come was a mini series that pitted Batman's army against Superman's army.

Both of them have armies? Holy cow, those comic books are way ahead of the movies. Restarting Batman and superman means endless posibilites at the moment. Hopefully they remake the hulk one day..... |
