it's a shame, i felt that land of the dead ended nicely giving the series a respectable finish. But Romero  will probably find a nice social or political theme to put in to enhance his next "masterpeice"

How about if the humans think the zombies are creating some kind of secret weapon to attack them so the president stages a big preemptive attack and wipes out all the zombies and then it turns out the zombies weren't even building anything in the first place...

haha, well Romero already attacked the Bush admisistration in Land of the Dead 1. i say romero should piss off both republicans and democrats though. Have Dennis Hopper survive trying to take back the city while the leader of the zombies is a tall boring oaf and nobody likes either of them.

There's absolutely no need for another Land Of The Dead film. Why can't these people just stop while they're ahead?!

Land of the Dead was pretty much the end to the series... (In my mind) But now they're making ANOTHER one. I don't think I will see this one since I was hesitant about Land of the Dead. The thing I am excited for is the remake of the Warriors. Or so I've heard.

So is Romero still a legend if he ruins his legacy by making 2 less than average films in the genre he supposedly created?

I enjoyed land of the dead, didn't think i was gonna, but did. don't think a Land of the dead 2 is needed but as long as the cow still gives milk,hollywood will be right there to suck it dry.

Why not "Planet of the Dead" or "State of the Dead?"  Why does it need to be "Land of the Dead TWWWOWOOOO."  It barely passed the $20 million mark, does that really deserve a sequel?

As much as I love George A. Romero's dead quadrilogy, I hope this is the last of it. Land of the Dead was great and all, but it wasn't the best and I figure he should stop before he gets himself into trouble if he decides to think of a "Land of the Dead 3" or "World of the Dead" or "Humans VS. The Zombies".

Land of the dead was a pile of SHIT! It is... I wasn't for sure at first, and only now do I fully realize why it was.  

The lead Zombie shit was absurd at best. That stupid fuggin' BIG DADDY ruined the show, yeah, but other demons were working to destroy it at the same time... So, in part, it was BIG DADDY's FIST FUCK ASS and a slew of other inconsistencies that made the movie and George Romero look like DONKEY SHIT!

Was it better than 28 days later and Dawn Remake? You bet your left nut sack of lunch it was... What movies aren't? Police Academy 5 was better than those two movies.

I think George Romero is done with. He isn't a consistent Director or writer and hasn't been in a very long time. He is, for all intents and purposes, PISS CRAVEN, only a bit cooler to listen to. I don't completely wanna puke my nuts out of my mouth when I see George Romero talk.

Land of the Dead 2 is just a bad idea. The 1st one Blew GOAT NUTS and PORKED CHICKENS IN THE BUTT... Simon Baker blew, as did BIG DADDY and the rest of the cast... But the thing that made it suck worse than anything.

MONEY... It was absurd that anyone in the movie would even fathom it as a viable means of value to anyone. Outside of Fiddlers Green, and "MAYBE" an outpost in OHIO they mention like 1 time... there wasn't 1 goddamn source of economy anywhere. Not one small fraction of an economy to be had anywhere in the world. What good was money?

Chloe had DEAD REKONING... It was worth way more than 2 million fuckin' dollars. Money wasn't needed. Hell, they had to raid towns just to get the food and other products to keep Fiddlers Green going.

People don't think movies out anymore. That's the problem right there. They simply don't think about the plot holes they're leaving the audience with... Well, they're banking on the audience being zombies themselves.

LOTD sucks and all zombie movies do, basically. I've said all along, for many years now, 97% of all zombie movies are SHIT BALLS!

Telling people that the zombie film formula is garbage will only make them use it more; writing something that blows them away and sets a new standard for the genre could change a few minds.

I agree with you 90% of the time Balt and think you could change the genre (At least as far as members on this site go) maybe you should do that, and set the bar high.

And you know, that is very true. I see more and more people "thinking" they can write a zombie movie and they've all failed and failed a great deal.

It's a cliche genre. It's too cliche. A cop, a bad ass, a black guy, a strong independent woman... The formula is all there and these people "a lot from this site too" Take that blueprint and run away with it... Only, instead of running in a different direction, they follow the crumbs left by the person who did it before them. (and much better I might add)

As for me... I know in my heart that COFFIN CANYON and it's two follow ups are better stories than anything Romero or anyone who writes zombie movies here has ever done. It is. I know that must sound pretty egotistical, but in truth there isn't a script that touches on the genre better than C.C. does.

It's more than a zombie movie. It's a Western/Drama at heart... When people can stop writing "just" zombie movies and focus on a bigger picture, only then will the genre evolve.

As of right now... It's been stuck for over 20 years now and these S.S. writers with their "CITY OF THE DEAD" or "SCHOOL OF THE DEAD" scripts aren't cutting it.

The genre needs a rest. A couple years and some guy to come along and reinvision the genre. Right now, Balt is right, it's stuck in a series of cliches.

You know what will happen and frankly, I'm bored. I wanna see someone say fuck convention and do the whole thing like they see fit.  Until they do that, the genre will continue to go downhill.
