I'm really looking forward to this although I have a bad feeling that QT won't be able to pull off a horror. He said his idea was something along the lines of a slasher with a car instead of a knife. Weird.
Rodriguez' sounds great though. He's already done a decent horror movie so I have high hopes for 'Planet Terror'.
Also, why'd they change it to 'Grind'? Isn't the term 'grindhouse' cinema, not 'grind' cinema. At least as far as I know. These guys'd know better I guess. |

Two 75 minute horror movies written by Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez put together as a two film feature. Including fake movie trailers in between both movies. That sounds really cool.
I also heard that characters from Dusk 'til Dawn will reprise their roles. Such as Michael Parks's "Earl MacGraw" and Danny Trejo's "Razor Charlie".
But I have to agree with James I also wonder if Tarantino can truly scare someone.
It supposed to come out sometime in December. |

I've been meaning to update this thread. Turns out that Robert Rodriguez's zombie flick has gone over budget and production has been cancelled for the moment. Tarantino's Death Proof is still filming and on schedule. I'll provide a link later. -Zavier Update here and here |

To me, Grindhouse films are more about fun than scares. The type of horror they exhibit, if any, is the unpleasant Devil's Rejects stuff...horrific, not exactly scary. |

i'm looking foward to it...i have a hard time believing the studio would fret about Rodriguez going over budget...
the film is going to be a SMASH hit.

I'm actually pretty keyed up to see this, as I'm a fan of new movies that try to replicate a certain feel from previous eras. I'll further illustrate my point by saying I enjoyed Down with Love and Sky Captain, both films that accomplished this nicely.
After doing a little bit of research, I'm hard pressed to actually classify this as a horror/slasher flick.
I think Mickey Rourke's "Stuntman Mike" is going to be something right out of Duel or Death Race 2000, preferably the latter. |

" Bummer news streaming from the Grindhouse forums, with Mickey Rourke – who many assumed was a lock for the role – no longer attached to play a role in Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino’s “Grind House”.
Since these forums have a few inside links with the production, I’d be willing to believe the news. They’ve been right before.-moviehole" |

Awww, what the hell!
So does that mean that all of the filming that has been done is going to be scratched?
Well, hopefully he can capitalize on it anyway. Maybe use Carradine again in a Frankenstein sort of way.
Bruce Campbell needs a mainstream role. |

Well, Campbell does apparently appear as Quentin Beck in Spidey 3, which means that conceivably in 4...
I wonder exactly what's going on with Grind House. It seems like things are a bit of a mess. |

A lot of news came out of Comic-Con. First off, Tarantino announced that Kurt Russell would be playing the slasher, Mad Man Mike from his segment Death Proof.
The other big piece of news is that each segment is in fact a real movie, not just one hour each. Viewers will be getting a double feature. The Death Proof script is 130 pages, Planet Terror is 110 pages long.

A 240 minute movie isn't gonna work. I don't know one person who has the time to give 240 minutes of their day to see this and I don't know anyone who'd want to sit down in a theater for that long.
I don't know. I guess I'd just have to pay one time and go see the first half and then go back later and just be 130 minutes late. ha-ha.

I'll be there opening night. Look at how much money Return of the King brought in and how long was that? 251 min. (special extended edition)
and I don't know anyone who'd want to sit down in a theater for that long.

There are going to be breaks inbetween the two films. Between the two segments will be trailers advertising fake films. Tarantino has stated that they plan to shoot fake trailers for a blaxploitation movie, a kung-fu movie, a sexploitation movie and a spaghetti western trailer.
The only one he has confirmed is the sexploitation, which will be for a film titled Cowgirls in Sweden. Also, in an interview with Danny Trejo, he said that he will be in a fake trailer for a movie called They Call Him Machete. Eli Roth and Edgar Wright have been confirmed to direct trailers.-wikiYou’re really underestimating these directors fan base. -Zavier |
