It's an animated film that's getting a lot of good press. Rated R may I add.

Watch the trailer and discuss, it comes out in the summer but it actually looks fresh and original.

I saw a trailer for this at a movie once. I forget which movie it was, but it looked incredibily good. It looks so good that it makes me want to jump out of my seat screaming. I am so excited for this...

It has a good cast too.

Yeah, it looks pretty original as far as story goes...but I'm tired of low-quality 3d films. Pixar will never be second best because no one can do it like them. This is the fourth low-budget, low-quality film I've seen thats coming out or has already come out this year...
I don't know...maybe thats what 'they' want us to believe...that low-quality cr*p films are OK now and that its the new age of films...

This looks really cool, but how do you classify it?  Is it live action animation?

To me, it looks like everything was filmed, and then drawn over to make it look like a cartoon.  Kind of like those Charles Schwab commercials.

If this wasn't live action/animation, then Hollywood has lost its mind, because this would be the WORST animation I've ever seem if its real animation...

It's basically just the real actors with animated sets. Though the actor's have been computerized and messed around with so it looks like animtaion.

I'm guessing that it just adds a nice touch to the movie. Or maybe it has something to do with the plot. We can't be absolutely sure until the movie comes out.

I don't know if Don's article covers this, but the film is rotoscoped.

Mike was correct. Everything was filmed live action and then drawn over by hand and filled in with computer.  This achieves that wavy effect while making the "drawings" look very real in their own way.  Rotoscoping is used in Sin City to achieve those white-on-black silhouettes...for example, when Dwight is sinking in water and is saved by Miho.

For my own part, I trust Linklater to make an excellent film, as he usually does.

You can check out the first 24 minutes of the actual film at IGN Film Force. The video is age restricted.
