Simon, ol buddy, ol pal, ol chum... I just don't get you. All Coop did was post a trailer of an upcoming film in the appropriate thread. A thread for an upcoming film. Don't understand why you have a bone to pick at all.
As per this film? I won't be dropping coin at the theater for it. We're going to build giant robots to fight giant aliens? Not my cup of believability. Surprised to see Del Torro involved. That guy has made some amazing film. I guess this is pay day for hard work.
I'm done with over-hyped comic book-driven or CGI heavy flix. That said, this one looks different and actually good. I am a fan of apocalyptic and/or alien invasion movies when done well (ie, "Independence Day," "Eli").
If opening weekend is great, expect at least a three-film franchise.
I'm not buzzed about the trailer, but I will pay to see it cos' it's Del Toro.
He does do 'One for them' (ie the studios - ie this type of film) and then 'one for me' (a 'foreign language' movie like Pans Labrinth). As a director, that's the best position to be in, surely. It doesn't get any better than that.
It's such a huge shame that he and James Cameron couldn't get At the Mountains of Madness green lit.
Yeah, Cameron and Del Toro can't get a movie made! Something to do with a lack of a romantic sub plot I remember reading. I actually saw tiny little hints of what that movie may have looked like in this trailer.
