But at the same time, living proof of just how difficult it must be to actually sue somebody in this business.

Edit:  And even the most jaded amongst us must admit that Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus certainly had its moments.

Yes, both good points, Bert.

It does shock me how they follow up all the "big event" pictures with their own piece of shit with a few letters or words changed in the title.

Was Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octo the one with Debbie Gibson in a submarine?  I think she gets it on with some scientist she just met.  CLASSIC!!!!

The Asylum is hideous!  Worst movie house I've ever had the displeasure of knowing about.  Pure and utter crap every single time.

... to late - my pitch for 'Man of Silver Foil or Plastic' is already in.

I watched their Hansel & Gretel!

Serious question, would you write for them, given the opportunity?

Yep, and this classic line of dialogue delivered to Ms. Gibson:

I am already working on World War Zee.

Why not? Pop off a couple features in a weekend and you can afford to spend the week working on something that doesn't completely suck ass.

At the bare minimum, break the mold and write something for them that's only mediocre...

Meh, I saw what they were looking for in their pitches.

I'd rather shit red hot razor blades instead of trying to come up with something for them.

Although it appears they'll produce anything.

I had no idea they were behind such shit-fests like Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus.

Some of the worst CGI ever...

Syfy needs to stop airing those movies (and stupid paranormal reality shows) and go back to the original horror classics.

Talk about a network that sucks balls anymore...

Hell yeah! Getting paid to write bad scripts with goofy premises is a heck of a lot better than most things people have to do to get paid.

That's what pen names are for!

"Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" provided one of the best nights of my freshman year in college. Every scene blew my mind in new ways. Plus, you get the joy of trying to explain to people that you watched a movie with that title.

On topic though, I really just cannot get myself to be excited about this film. The trailers just aren't doing anything for me. Doesn't look bad. I dunno. Reminds me of how I felt about the trailers for that "Real Steel" movie.

Not a huge Del Toro fan anyway, so maybe that's it.

Really? Their films might be "crud" but it would still be a writing job that most writers never even get near.

Eh.  I'd rather have my name attached to something of some worth.

I don't want to be the writer associated with some blatant lame-ass knock off or shitty CGI Monster movie -- that is also a blatant lame-ass knock off.

Low budget, Direct-to-video rip-offs capitalizing on someone else's idea...

I've watched some of their efforts.  It ain't pretty.

Yeah, some writers would want the job, some would kill for it... but not me.

You'd have to pay me a heavy sum of cash (and maybe throw in a pint of vodka and an eight ball of blow) to write the ludicrous scripts they are looking to produce.

Then again, here's a valid point, which squashes my above comments.

But also, shouldn't a writer be proud of his/her material?

Shouldn't he want his/her REAL name on the product?

If you have to use a "pen name" because your script (or film) sucks the high hard one, well, that's pretty embarassing if you ask me.

Well, from what I can see, 'Sunday School Musical' was produced for $8.5k, so on a 3% deal you're looking at $255 - which may equal $170 up-front and $85 back-end.

You'd do it to have a writing cred, not for the cash.

The Asylum: Living proof that you don't need to spend $125 million to make a shitty movie, you can do that for a whole lot less.

I like The Asylum. They screw Hollywood at any chance they get, and since Hollywood deserves to take a big one up the ass every now and then, I can't really get upset with The Asylum.
