This is a new BBC 3 television series.  I've only watched the first episode and I'm ready to recommend it.

It's about zombies, but not like any other zombie fare out there... It's about rehabilitated zombies ready to re-enter society.

However, be warned, it's not about gore or action, this is a drama where the main protagonist happens to be a zombie or rather a person with PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome).

He gets rehabilitated and sent back to his home town, a town that hates zombies with a passion and longs for the days when they could just go out into the woods and shoot a wild one.

Needless to say the town isn't happy he's back.

From what I've seen this series will be filled with plenty of drama, dry dark humour and sly satirical observations on British society.  To me, it sort of seems to be what a zombie series would be like if Kubrick directed (or at the very least I could see that he inspired some of the first episode).

Definitely not for someone who likes hack and slash otherwise, if you can, give it a watch.

This has bypassed me, so thanks for the heads up, Michael. Sounds very promising indeed.

Hmm, not heard of this one either. Looks interesting after all the mainstream zombie fare. And, I love your 'warning' to others Michael.   And, PDS - very clever.  Thanks for posting this, will definitely look it up.

It's a shame that zombies have been beaten like a dead horse.

You can't even write a good ol shoot em up zombie script anymore without someone saying "how are you going to make it unique/stand out from the rest?"   I'll probably pass on this one - not my cup of tea.

There's plenty of life left in the genre.  And this comes from someone who isn't fond of the genre.  The story just has to be more than a crowd of people fighting to survive.

You literally took the words out of my mouth Andrew! I was going to say basically the exact same thing

I just watched the last episode of this and I was amazed at how gut-wrenching it was -- especially because it was about zombies (though it was about much more).  Definitely high on my list of series you, as a screenwriter, should watch.
