Hi, everyone! This is my first time on this board so forgive me if this topic has already been discussed LOL! I've recently got into classical music, but the problem is, I know very little about it. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some orchestral pieces for me to listen to, particularly music which was composed by Mozart or Tchaikovsky or any of the greats. I'm interested in the darker, louder, broodier music, as opposed to pieces like The Four Seasons. Can anyone help me out?

Check out Wagner (pronounced vog-ner), particularly "Ride of the Valkyries". Sorry I can't go into too much detail, but that sounds like the type of pieces you're looking for.

Try Carmina Burana too or some Bach's Cantatas.

There is already a thread for this subject here:
http://www.simplyscripts.net/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?b-Music/m-1082602338/s-new/ A good thing about classical music is that most is public domain material and was composed before there were any or adequate copyright laws, which means any aspiring filmmaker can have some of the most famous and known music on his soundtrack. Of course, the recordings for sale at stores are copyrighted so you’ll have to find your own musicians to perform the music and use your own recording but the actual written music of, say Beethoven, is free to use in your movie.
I’m surprised more aspiring filmmakers don’t take advantage of this fact. You could hire a synthesizer player to perform Mozart and as long as you pay the studio to produce and engineer it, the music will be yours to use in any film.
