Yikes, Mark.
Take care of yourself and heal up.

I bet there's a short about a guy in traction in our future now.

Regards,
Brett

Well, I wasn't attacked by a Samurai sword this time, (I think that incident occurred on the 'God's Empty Acre' thread), so it wasn't malicious.

But someone's been throwing sticks and rocks at the windows, (found out who while I was in the hospital).  I went out Sunday to get all the ones off the roof (and a frisbee, too) and slipped.  The incline was too steep to get my footing, but luckily I was able to jump out enough and land in the yard rather than on the tree stumps in front of the house.

My new nickname in the neighborhood is 'Superman', which everybody laughs at until I remind them that Christopher Reeve was paralyzed.  Then they feel bad.  :-)

Thank you again everybody for the good vibes.  It really helped.  I was walking again Wednesday and after some physical therapy to see how I was moving and going up and down steps, I was let out of the hospital yesterday.  (After talking to a psychiatrist and assuring him it wasn't a suicide attempt, which happened to be the consensus at first because they didn't know why I'd be on the roof and because of heavy depression in my early 20's.  :-)  I'll be back to work next week and I just have to wear the brace to make sure the spine heals straight.  (The official diagnosis were compression fractures in two vertabraes.)

Unfortunately, after I was discharged, my mom didn't answer the phone to let her know she could pick me up, so I figured she left for work.  After I got home, I found out she was in the emergency room for an ongoing heart problem, so I headed right back to the hospital.

She's home recovering now, but something happened with my uncle right after she got out, and he has to have heart surgery, so if anybody could send some positive thoughts their way, I'd really appreciate it.

Anyway, I want to thank everybody again for the warm thoughts and I'll be talking to you guys soon.

- Mark

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Don.

I liked the the 'fallen and can't get up line'.  It made me smile when I saw it.

Hey Mark,

Happy to hear you're up and walking. Hopefully you won't have to wear that brace for too long. I'm sorry about your mother and uncle. My thoughts and prayers go out to both of them for a speedy recovery.

Take care.

Hey Dirk and Renee.

Thanks a ton for your thoughts.  My mom's better now, but my uncle's still doing rough.

Yep.  When it rains, it pours.

Thanks again to everybody.
