So it was me who wrote Jowls.
Typical.
I'm going to have fun responding to those posts.
Congrats to Marnie. Seems unanimous and deserved.
And if memory serves, it was RayW who didn't understand that computer joke. I feel I have to explain. Lenny was using the computer for em, recreational purposes so much he broke it. Maybe it funnier in my head. Twould not surprise.
And now we know who's been slacking on the reads. Reap the wrath.

I'd like to thank everyone who wrote a script, and all who read at least more than two. When I proposed the OWC I didn't think anyone would bite. Don liked the idea, and it was slightly different that the usual norm.
Congrats to Marnie and Eric.. on a job well done.
Others I personally liked were Immersion Therapy, Hunt and Alaskan Sound. |

Congraulations Marne and Eric, John/Tim and Steve. All deserved it imo.
Others I really liked:
Alaskan Sound Reel Tension Shark Tale The Ordeal
But they all had their charm, grace and shark appeal. |

Ah! I'm quite the dullard, eh? Well, I'll make sure the computer bit get's plenty of break-worthy attention.
Others I personally liked were Immersion Therapy, Hunt and Alaskan Sound. |
And where are my manners?! (Ren probably misplaced them with his spoons and telly remote.)Congratulations, Marnie and Eric!
Cheers! |

No. I found them. The remote was far away. Sadly I failed to see the irony.
As for your manners I failed to find. You're on you're own. I have enough trouble remembering where mine are at the best of times.
Fine picture of a SimplyScripts mug. A trophy that has so far eluded me. Knowing my penchant for being awkward this situation is unlikely to change any time soon.
Nevertheless I'd like to the Academy. It may be the only chance I get.

Oh I get you.
It might not have been if you behaved and stopped yourself from mentioning it so much. Some people know me far less well.
Their innocence is something I can only play with if you play with me. Oh dear. Now look what you've made me do. I depart before it gets far worse.

I voted for Catch. Congrats!
My approach was to try to do reviews in 2 parts: what I liked and what needs work. They use that approach in a competition I was involved in recently, and I like it.
There was one script that I just couldn't find anything to put under 'what I liked', so I skipped that part. Sorry. There was just no part of that story that worked. Oh, well. At least it got a recommend from someone here. Wow.
Near the end of the week, I just did regular reviews. More hurried ones.
I missed several what seems to have been good scripts. I'll try to get to them. Sorry I didn't have time to give them a shot.
Marnie...fantasic! I had no idea. Excellent work. Enjoy the mug! |

Congrats Marnie!
Maybe you couldn't tell from my review, but yours was my favorite. It's an honor to be tied with you (and the other reviews are right, you don't need to kill him)
Congrats to everyone involved and thanks to anyone who enjoyed mine.
P.S. I'm sure my reviews got choppy as the week wore on. Hopefully I didn't ruffle many feathers. If so... feel free to ruffle back. I fancy myself a good sport. |

And Thanks to Darren and Don.
I didn't read them all this time, so I thought it's just fair to stay away from the voting.

So many great tales this time around. Shame I couldn't read them all before the voting, but I will get around to it. Got a holiday coming up. Work goes bah-bye for 2 weeks YES!
Congrats to all who entered. Tough parameters, limited options, but many prominent imaginations in play here.
Great stuff. Can't wait for the next one. |

Well done Marnie and Eric! I will re-read both of them as my reviewing got a little mixed up over the days. My fave was Shark Dreaming but there were a few strong entries. Thanks to all who read mine and liked it, lol. Mohammed, are you still certain Jeff wrote The Lagoon? I don't know whether to be honoured or to be disinfected > |

Just chiming in here. I definitely had fun this OWC, and learned along the way.
I pumped out 2 shorts: REEL TENSION and ALASKAN SOUND. I'm pleased at the reception and spreadsheet scores. Thanks for all the reviews guys and gals. I appreciate it.
I thought I'd mention my favourite shorts here, as well... in no particular order... the best were...
SAMEBITO, FINNING, SHARK TALE
And I also really enjoyed these ones... in no particular order...
SENTIENT, LOYALTY, SHARK DREAMING, THE ORDEAL, TO CATCH A PREDATOR, STILLNESS IN THE WATER, TIDES OF CAEUS
It was hard to narrow it to top 10. I docked marks, so to speak, when light on sharky stuff. Lots of creative stuff this time around though. Some memorable characters too, like peter Benchley himself and the reporter from CURRENT EVENTS.
Big congrats to all who entered.
Thanks to everyone for the critiques, the challenge, and the entertainment. |
