A Lovecraftian Romantic Comedy? Oh yeah, there are a few members that would have been all over that -- myself included.
And here I was thinking there was just no way to make this challenge interesting for myself.
I obviously did not think hard enough.
Bert,
Although I haven't gotten through many of the submissions, I was surprised that there wasn't a single Zombie romance among them.
I was very close to making this a Lovecraftian RomCom, but I was concerned that not enough people were familiar enough with Lovecraft that I would get any submissions. So, simple RomCom was the safest route.
Hang on... let me check. Oh yes. That 'thingy' means I must be male. Well, it's hard to tell these days. There's a coupla things behind it too. They're not pretty. Could do with a trim too.
Hang on. Something's happening. This thingy seems to be expanding Stop this ! It's just... Stop! Okay. Anyway Elis. So now you know. My, you're a fine looking woman. My best shot at being a flirt. Forgive me!
The interesting thing for me here is that the references in Norman's song is the water element.
Some people might find some humor in this, indeed, even Norman himself, might have been funnin' with us, but I actually feel there's a seriousness here. How can there not be? With the tonal vibrations in the melody...
When I wrote "#######", I had no idea about the connection to Lovecraft and water/fish elements.
I still need to, (God help me with time) go and read Lovecraft, who I have, (according to an earlier critique and this revelatory gem) seemingly found a connection with.
These lyrics are astonishing to me and they resonate with me.
'cause you're my quasi icthian angel You're my half amphibian queen You're the overlord of my universe You're the Tormentor of my dreams
You're my starry eyed web-foot wonderful You swallow my sanity!!!!
You're my fish-frog sweetheart Baby let me Be your Filthy gibbering lunatic priest!!!! (Priestess))
(Missing Lyrics)
I know the Old Ones Were And The Old Ones Are And The Old Ones Will Always Be
And The Elder Gods Wait Just Beyond the Great Gate Waking for their ancient dreams
Though loathsome hideous Squid-headed blasphemies Rise up from the deep I don't pay heed It don't matter to me!!!!!!
Wow!!!!!
I love this song!!!!
And if I have another dream to dream, it will be to sing this song myself.
Great stuff Don for giving us this to work with. Thanks Norman!!! (Cus I'm crazy like that!)
