I think a board for the weeks Top ten unproduced scripts would be good.
Just like the box office we could see who is doing well. The end of everyweek brings a new top ten list.

Yeah Kingpin, I'm with you! I think a TOP 10 scripts poll would be a great way to boost people's confidence and make them better writers. Wouldn't hurt in my opinion...

Whose going to keep this top 10 up to date? I can almost say for sure Don doesn't have the time to do it

I have a good idea if Don and enough people are willing to participate, I myself could be unbias and what we could do is everyone could send a vote to me each week or as many as possible and at the end of the week say on Saturday I could post the screenplays that got the most votes per week starting at 1 - 10

And that way there can be no conspiracy talk and it will be the voters who decide, someone else brought this up a few weeks ago and I have the time to recieve all these votes and tally a winner each week without being bias

Well this week is basically done, There is no place for me to actually post results but if you want to participate I'll take it seriously and what we can do is start right now.

If people are willing to participate what would make it so much easier on Don and even the members is send me 2 votes each for a different screenplay, so 2 votes per person but they cannot be for the same screenplay twice

I can have a top 10 starting next week but I think it would work best every other week because people need time to read the and look at the top 10 for the week

So you could send your votes to my pm and it would be that easy, and you can vote for shorts, series and full length films anything that's considered a screenplay on this site

If Don would give me either a board or tell me where I can post the result than it could be a lot more real but if you want to you can start sending votes anytime now and I'll have those details done by the time I post Results for the week

How come when I posted this nothing was done?  Now, some... new guy post and it quickly becomes a great idea?  I don't understand this.  Everyone said it was a terrible idea and la la la, when I mentioned how effective it would be.

Anyway, now that people are listening... yeah, this is a great idea and one i've been wanting to happen since my 1st post here over a month ago.

To add a little something, you should keep the top screenplays up for newer members.  For instance, until the top screenplay is voted off the top 10, it should remain in the list at however many votes it recieved compared to the next screenplay.

So like --

Screenplay X got 10 votes this week. It's number 1.

Screenplay B got 7 votes next week, but screenplay x still got 10 votes. It would stay at number 1 until a screenplay with more votes came along and knocked it off.

More like a box office chart than anything, only we aren't dealing with millions of dollars.  This way new members would still be able to easily find and read and know what screenplays are doing what on the boards.

That was my vision of this whole thing, yours might be different and since it is not I who is doing all the grunt work, I can't speak out too much about it I suppose.  I still would have liked this to be acknowledged a few weeks ago however.

That's why I said in my post here that someone else mentioned this weeks ago, you must have missed that and I did recognize weeks ago and have kept it in my mind as of late and than it resurfaced

If enough people send in votes I can do it that way, so if the next week someone votes for screenplay X I would continue to add up the votes. If a screenplay stays on there for a really long time I will kinda retire it into it's own hall of greatness because everyone likes it so much

I can't wait for this thing to kick in, and I'm glad other people are enthusiastic about it besides me. I think this would be great for newcomers who want to learn from the best screenplays as voted by writers.

I know this will certainly give me something to aim for in the future. Hope to see my script at No. 1 sometime!

Well you can send your votes anytime from now until later in the week when i'll post the results, I can give up the time needed to calculate votes and keep this going for as long as needed

And I'll even go as far as to never allow my own screenplays to be voted for to keep myself unbias

If you want to vote you get 2 votes for 2 different screenplays, I'll work out the details on where the results will go before next week anyways. 2 votes because it'll stop the voting for only your screenplay when you have to vote for 2 different ones that are the best in your opinion

If people were actually serious about it they would have sent me a vote like I asked so I guess they were just making idle conversation, the Walters are a yearly oscar type ego boost for the ones who need it.

The people who win may or may not deserve it half the time because there isn't competition, I'm not saying there fixed but there are a lot overlooked

I think this idea was on my side anyways a bi weekly pat on the back to 10 good screenplays, like the charts for music

well i still think it's a good idea.  however, finding time to read screenplays (and i mean, i have time right now obviously, but in my current state could not comprehend it at any comprehendable level of intelligence) is difficult for me.  

and there's so many!!!

That is a good idea and i would not mind helping out on it.

i think that there's so many scripts on here that its gonna take everyone longer then two weeks on here, so maybe there should be certain scripts chosen and we vote on them...maybe like two scripts from each genre and then everyone could vote on one script from each genre....maybe. lol

Well that could work but than again I'd just pick the top few from each genre because not even I know what people like, it's what you like not what i think you would like

It doesn't matter if you haven't read anything but two scripts, if you like 2 screenplays that aren't yours vote. Eventually after the first time there will be a top 10 and than you can read them and vote for them if you feel like doing so and vote for other ones you think deserve to be on there

perhaps YOU could just choose the top ones, like you suggested, in your opinion, and we could have a smaller list to choose from.  

plus, we would of course add to that list ones we read sepearte from your list.

I could do it anytime but I don't want to pick a top 10 so anyone who thinks they've read enough screenplays to say a top 10 pm me with your top 10 list and if I agree I'll post it and you the person who sends me this list can stay anonymous if you want to

but you have to have actually read more than say 20 screenplays to send me a list, if you send it asap I can have a list by the next day and than after that I'll see how many times a month we should have voting or if it should be once a month depending on the reaction it gets

Don't be angry with me, I'm the one who wasted all this time talking about it and only 4 or 5 people have even participated in it. You could have sent me a top 10 list and I would have used it

P.S. I don't think you should be involved because you may have brought the idea up but you haven't came back until now and finally you want to be involved, I tried to get this idea going for you by giving the time needed because you don't seem to have enough spare time.

I have sent about 15 pm's to the people I think will be able to help start the very first one and if at least 8 of them get back to me I will be able to piece together a solid top 10 and get this started right. That is when you can come back and be apart if you want Kingpen, not while the ideas a floating turd but when it's a rising force

If I am able to make the top 10, the right way I will make a web site specifically with the top 10 so that Don doesn't have to make another board and just post the link so everyone can see the top 10 easily and fast

Only a couple people really participated so really I don't see why it should start ever because nobody would even vote for in the second week and beyond

I could make a top 10 out of what I have so far but really it wouldn't be fair to those who should or would be on the list if more than 5 people particpated in the voting process

Oh...that sucks because I thought that it was a really good idea. Is there a way to just take so many scripts and make a pole or something and just have everyone vote off their and you can like change it at the end of the week or when new scripts are posted up...just an idea.

How many names can you have in one poll from this site? If you can have more than 10 that would make that easier to do, without it there would only be a few and that would leave a lot out

Anyway, of the scripts that got the votes who got the most id still wanna know

None really, since there was so little participation in voting there really isn't much more than a bunch of single votes for different scripts

If I were to make a thread with them in a poll for people to vote for and people actually did and didn't take offence if they aren't on it this time than it could still work out, I'd just use what I have and what I've read to make up a top 11 to vote for this week and than after about 2 weeks of letting people vote I'd take the top 5 and make a new one and add 5 new ones and kind of make it that way

So if someone stays on there for like 10 weeks or times depending on how much I did it than they'd be retired into some kinda hall of fame, I could create a web site if it actually works out and people like it

So than the polls would slowly transfer from here to the site where you can find the hall of fame and all that kinda stuff
