Doesn't anyone else find research on a specific profession impossible? This is definitely my worst problem since I see no solution.

How do I get first person info about a certain job?

Depending on the job, search for forums for people with that specific job and email somebody on the forums, tell them you're writing a screenplay/novel and ask them nicely if they'll answer some questions.

A while ago I was researching a medical condition for a story. I found a woman on the internet who had written books on the subject and she was more than happy to answer my questions.
