Alright. So here it is. A new collaberation thread.

To begin I am posting the treatment:

This is a collaberation, but I'd like it to have some structure.

Please if you contribute, make sure you view the rules that will be posted below the treament.

Without further ado I give you the plot for:

Eclipse

2012 is the year the world will end. It has been foretold by the Mayans a millenium ago. December 21st, 2012 will be the day the sun is blotted out and the world is made anew.

Holy men and beleivers all around gathered on that faithful day when they watch a great shadow black out the sun. An eternal night. With this THEY came. Hungry creatures from the shadows. Demons who feast on the flesh and blood of the living. They are known only as the Shadow Beings. Creatures who move freely within this new eternal blackout.

A man, Eric, and his child, Eden, are all that's left of a family who was torn apart in a brutal attack of Shadow Beings. They are nomads moving in secret and trying to find refuge in a world falling apart.  They have travelled for years.

Finally, they find a community who has seemingly shut itself in from the world. A community ruled by a mysterious "Holy Man" known only as the Q.  That is until Eric and Eden arrive. Little do they know that Eric might just be the one who is prophesized to uprise against the creatures.

Trouble is, that to do so, they must find the Oracle and discover the key to ending the night. The fabled Oracle is in fact within Eden, but to awaken it, they must venture far into the land and into Devil's Peak.

A rag tag group is gathered and sent out to find the Oracle and defeat the Shadow Creatures. This may be mankinds last stand. All of it rest on a young child and her father.

Will they survive or will the creatures of this eternal eclipse end it all.

Now for those pesky rules:

Any post that may devalue the peice or lead it towards sheer nonsensical stupidity, or troll posting will be deleted.

If a segment seems inane or like it was written to be bad, ignore it. It will most likely be deleted.

Lastly, have fun. I only want to keep this in check. It's horror, not comedy. Remember that.

Just some thoughts:

I'd change the mythos..from Mayan's to anything else (except egpytian) Maybe Norse.

What if instead of an eclipse...the darkness simply descend on the earth.   "The heavens went black and the blackness engulfed the world...until there was no light left upon it."

The shadow beings might literally be negative energy creatures. That drain both light and life-force...they travel through shadows and darkness like fish through water.  Meaning that at night they are unstoppable, but by day they are weak...but when the eclipse comes and there is no light!!!  I think it would build the suspense more to see what will happen, but have the hope of stopping it.

Seems like you kinda already established the structure as that of the classic hero's journey.

There should also be that catch that brings the creatures specifically after Eden...they are drawn to her because of her special energy...making protecting her that much harder.

I'd definitely work on this one though...if it was being written to be finished.
