I've been mum about this for the past few months (and even asked Don to remove the script from SS for a number of reasons) as I worked with the director on getting funds, but I just got word today that we got 10,000 Euros from the Irish funding scheme Filmbase, which means we now have the budget we wanted of about 20,000 Euro ($30,000)

Not only that but the production will be mentored by Lenny Abrahamson whose last feature "Garage" won the CICAE award at Cannes last year!

Production begins in about 3 months in Ireland. WE've been asked to shorten it a bit, and the film will be slightly different from the inital script, but I'm really fucking excited about this!

...the film will be slightly different from the inital script...

How so?  I recall the ending worked in its own, odd kind of way, but I was not completely satisfied with the resolution of the story.

Are they changing the ending?  What will be different?

That was an attractive script, with few forseeable problems in the filming.  Nicely done.

We might we shooting two versions of the ending, yeah. But mostly we've changed the opening, and de-americanized some of the dialogue here and there. We also reworked the whole timing montage when the kids are under the water, plus some other minor stuff.

But the essence of the script is still there.

Congrats TJ. Good luck with it. How's the feature for the mute going? That'll be something to read. Either way, congrats. Keep us posted on its developments.

Congratulations TJ, The Pool is one of my favourite shorts on this site. It has a wonderful atmosphere and tells a really interesting story.

You should be able to make a great little film with that money. I imagine it would do extremely well at festivals.

I'd personally love to see you write some more scripts like that one. Since then you seem to have written more mainstream stuff, but that one had such a great, philospohical air about it...

Well done again.

Rick.

Hey thanks again everybody!

Rick, yeah we hope it's gonna whore itself out at festivals. Things are really looking up for me these days, beginning to get a few contacts here and there. I will be moving into more mainstream stuff as I work on features, but I still have some great ideas for films involving kids, which used to be somewhat of a niche for me. And they won't pull any punches,if it's up to me.

Pia, yeah it's Thomas who's directing. We worked together on the script for the past few months and got it into its current inception.
