What I love about these movies, almost everyone being directed by a different person, is that they can stand alone as movies themselves and not a "saga." All of them are different. Ironically, Goblet of Fire was the funniest of them all, even though the book dealt with more danger, threat and, of course, Lord Voldemort. Goblet of Fire was my favorite book so I had pretty high expectations for this one, even though I hadn't read it in a long time, and this movie lived up to them. The Yule Ball, the tasks, the actual goblet of fire look fantastic but my FAVORITE was the Quidditch World Cup. That looked AMAZING!

The Goblet of Fire is the second largest book of the six (the largest being the Order of the Phoenix) so of course the writers would have to cut some stuff out. So the movie went really, really fast -- which was a good and bad thing, I never found myself bored but I could tell they were rushing through all the beginning parts to get to the Triwizard Tournament and the end was cut short too. What I'm saying is, if you're looking for a good movie, this is it, but if you're one of those who are strict book-followers and want to see it how it was written in the book, you may be a bit disappointed with the speed .. but only a bit.

It's a great movie. I loved it. The whole theater laughed at many times, (at least, I cried), and there was a bit of applause at the end. Of course, it was opening night.

As for the movie, the book was way better, they cut out a lot.

Yes, it was a great movie. I wasn't sure about the series, but after I bought my wife the box set of the first 3 movies, we've watched them lots of times - and I now love and appreciate them. I loved Prisoner of Azkaban, the last entry.

Watched Goblet Of Fire this weekend and loved it (thought not quite as much as Azkaban). I don't have the benefit of referring to the books, as I haven't read them (tsk, tsk)...though I may start soon.

Newell is a great British director and he seemed to connect to the material written for him more than the other directors. Though, I did feel there were rushed scenes and scenes that could have been explored more (the awareness of feelings, teenager hormones, akward teenagers etc..etc..)

But overall - fantastic. The series has definitely grown on me and can't wait for the next one!

I can't stand the Harry Potter books or the films. To me, as a Christian, witch craft is a sin and there is no "Good" witch craft like they try to show in this series. The quality of the films are very good from films 2 and up. *the first kind of stunk.*

Not to start a "christian war" or anything, just what I think. I think that the guy who plays Harry Potter in the film does a sappy job and doing the whole crying and emotion thing. The Screenwriter for the third film totally screwed it up. He didn't have to leave out as much as he did. Look at Fellowship of the Ring. They did leave a bit out, but they chose the right stuff to cut. The guy who wrote this script for Harry Potter and the gof cut out the WORLD CUP! Idiot! Thats all for now.

Well... I'm confused... if you disagree with the books and their use of witchcraft, then why would you read all of them and be upset that the film cut pieces of it out?

Yeah, I'm a bit confused about that, too. And if you're sure that LOTR doesn't offend Christian faith, what about the creation of an entire "middle earth" with those wizards Good (Gandalf) and bad (the guy Christopher Lee played)? See the "witchcraft" in there, too? And the witchcraft in HP is SO far from real wiccan practices, it's so ridiculous. I don't want to start a debate, but that's, you know, just what I think.

Normally i would put people like you in there place because i get really upset at stupid stuff like this,BUT since a new year is almost upon us i shall refrain from verbally ripping you a knew one and instead just say that i strongly disagree with your views on this and leave it at that.


Now on the subject of Harry Potter. I really enjoy the books, but the films i never liked much. they are beautiful looking and all that but i still don't like them. maybe because I'm one of those people that 9 times out of 10 will say the book was better.

now i say that for the time being we replace Hermione(sp?) with Lindsay lohan's SNL portrayal of Hermione(sp?), at least until the current one is 18 or so... thats is how you get butts in the seats, not expensive visuals,but really hot woman with huge...tracts of land.

i may watch the fourth film because i have not read any books past number 3(other stuff took place before) so i won't be able to compare book to film, but the book is still better I'm sure.

I think, to prevent a 'Christian war,' you should not comment in threads where your religion is an important factor in forming your opinion.  While you may mean no ill will in the threads, and you are proud of your faith, bringing it up repeatedly could ruffle some feathers.

The books are fun, at the ending of the 5th they reveal that HP is actually the antichrist and stuff like that
