Must suck to be the actor that played Paul's part though. No, take that back. He did get to be ontop of a naked Danielle Harris. Maybe he won a role on some competition.

Reading through all of these reviews, I'm starting to think that maybe I'm a little too desensitised to violence for my own good. I didn't find anything in this movie to be overtly disgusting or "too harsh". The killings in this movie are very violent and graphic, but to me what makes killing scenes in movies hard to watch is the context. For example, I thought the scenes or murder and brutality in Schindler's List were harder to watch and a lot more intense than the ones in this movie. I didn't particularly care if any of these characters lived or died, so that really brought the violence down for me. That's not a complaint, I'm just saying. A lot of people have complained about the violence and sex and profanity in this movie and I honestly don't understand why. Halloween doesn't give us anything we haven't seen or heard in other movies, so I really don't know where some of you guys are coming from. Then again, maybe I'm just sick.

But enough of that, overall I liked this movie a lot. I'm not a huge fan of these slasher flicks that take themselves too seriously (I like them better when they just go for the camp like the last few installments of Friday the 13th), but as far as "dead teenager movies" go, this was pretty good. I got a few good jumps out of it and I actually thought some of the performances were good. I particularly liked Sheri Moon Zombie in the opening of the film. She made me feel her despair when Michael went totally insane and stopped talking. The scene where she is watching the old home movies kinda moved me, something I didn't expect from a slasher. I almost wish that Zombie had gone full-blown prequel, rather than extended introduction and then standard remake. The first half of this movie is a lot stronger than the second and I wanted more origin story.

So that's it. I liked this film as much as the original. Zombie has created a fast-paced, visually strong film. Some of the dialogue was a little silly, and I've never seen a girl simulate sexual intercourse with a bagel in front of their mother, but those are minor gripes in an otherwise strong horror film. Call it disgusting, call it too much, but I thought it was just right. 7/10.

Hey Scoob....some of the bigger the things changed were Udo Kier's character and Danny Trejo.

(SPOILERS HERE ON!!)

Trejo has a death scene (stupid move. Not only was it the worst death in the film, but it was completely unnecessary and killed off a potentially good character) and Kier was almost completely cut out.

There are short cameos by Bill Moseley and Sid Haig from The Devil's Rejects that I believe were absent in the workprint.

Most of the dialogue between the girls was cut out. Lynda doesn't come off as mean in the theatrical cut as she did in the workprint.

Mrs. Strode has a graphic death scene absent from the workprint.

Music is different.

Ending is totally changed.
