Once I get placed I wont have any time to write, factory work... The money is good which means I'll be able to budget my film but writing the scripts may be the hardest part going ahead.

I'd say the point by point thing is the best way to go unless it's something you're looking to sell. I write treatments when I'm not sure where the script is going, which is a great thing.

Hi guys.  I am kind of busy and don't have much time to dig around for this.  I am hoping that sombody knows this off the top of their head.

Does anyone know of an authoritative website (or sites) where you can find good examples actual treatements for screenplays?  Not instructions on writing one, but honest to goodness treatments themselves.

A google for "treatments" just gets me all kinds of crap about various medical conditions

Thanks for any help on this.

I was looking at the Spiderman one and they did dialogue like in script format so I guess I should probably edit the way I do treatments.

I just wrote the dialogue in just side by side in the treatment body.

I guess like I've said before you learn something new everyday.

Well if I do that I'll call my treatments scriptments and if someone says something I'll direct them towards that link ha-ha

A scriptment sounds better anyway.

I usually Just write a page for every act and Half a page for every plot point. So, I usually have a 4 page treatment.

Look For these in the future:

JACKSON - (Dark Western)

A HOME IN THE SUNSET - (Horror)

THE AMAZON - (Thriller/Drama)

THE LEGEND'S - (Animated/Family/Comedy)

When writing for yourself, you should have it as complete as possible no matter how long it comes out to be. That way, every thought and idea you need to write the script is there for you to draw on.

However, if someone else requests a treatment, they may give you a certain length requirement. Really, that's the ONLY time it makes any difference. If the producer says 6 pages, don't go over six pages, since that's all the time he wants to devote to reading it.

A treatment should be long enough to explain the movie in a manner conveying the plot and characters, with little dialogue, and in language that really makes you want to watch that movie.

That's all a treatment is, pretty much.

But then again, you've got scriptments, which are the treatment and the screenplay combined.  Which is like the LOTR treatment.  Long.

I thought a treatment was just like pages that give details on the plot, setting, characters, and etc.

I think you're thinking of a synopsis.

Uh...I meant I thought a treatment was just giving the sypnosis or plot outline to the person to write it.

It can be whatever you want it to be, nobody can actually tell you how to do one. Mine range from a page to 20 pages and whether they are right or not is irrelevant because nobody but me will ever see them or use them and even if they did they'd understand what it is they'd need to do.

Some people like to have really long descriptive treatments others just would rather iron out the specific details and not get into dialogue, character traits beyond general info and so on.

If you need people to hold your hand how will you ever get anything done?

“No set length, simply a script's COMPLETE story” That explains it all.

If you want to answer it sure but not really, it was just meant as a statement of opinion.
