I stumbled across this guy's website and he has some intelligent things to say about the craft so I thought I'd share some links here.

Craft Notes:

Articles:

IMO this is some excellent advice. Especially the section on action verbs. A lot of writers (myself included) fall into the trap of lazy action description.

Please note, I'm not recommending his services, but if you want a good laugh, take a look at his prices.

A mere 25 grand for a full rewrite. I'd better crack open my piggy bank.

Seriously, though, the articles are good.

That's some good advice there. I'll give it a few days to collect some dust and then add it to the links thread in the sticky.

Very interesting articles, thanks Martin.

The "cow crossed the road" anecdote was hilarious, by the way.

Hey....I just noticed that George has all those green stars now!  So he's all, like, "King George" or something haha.

When did that happen?

Hey, it's my tiny, little IMDb!

Yeah it reminds me of the old anecdote about Capra.

Frank Capra hired a famous playwright to write a screenplay. After a few months, he checked in. The famous playwright had written two beautiful reels of dialogue, twenty pages that showed a marriage that had once been strong but was now fading.

Capra's response was, "Here's what we'll do. We show the husband and the wife in an elevator. The husband has his hat on. Elevator stops. A pretty girl gets into the elevator. The husband takes his hat off for the pretty girl."

During the break, I offered to guard the Screenwriting Class board since I tend to hang out here a lot anyway. I've done some cleaning and consolidating, especially of the older threads, which might explain why some of the threads on general topics are now 50-70 posts long. Thre was also an inordinate amount of unrelated to anything else Chan-spam, if you know what I mean. And that's King George III, thank you very much.
