Wow, people really get going on here, don't they. For what it's worth though:

I do read more than two posts back and often ignore posts after the one I comment on.

Pia gets mad often enough that we're used to letting her cool down. Pia, it'll be ok.

I'm not averse to being the final say on the script we pick, since I'm in charge. (Ha!)

I'm not averse to it being a Shelton script, and bonus since he's got a produced one (that he didn't produce himself, since I've got a produced one that I did produce myself -- hardly counts).

A script suggestion thread followed by a poll sounds good to me, and I might just throw one together now, except that Pia wants to continue the discussion till Sunday, and she's already pissed, so that's a tricky envelope to push.

And finally, I decided to pick my 165 pager since I can. . . . ok, not really.

But I think I will throw up a poll of scripts that have been proposed, even if they have been so in jest (unless the author asked that they not be, so Devil in D Minor won't be on the list). I think that's about as fair as it will get.

We can keep the discussion going until Sunday for the sake of doing so, and I'll close the poll on Sunday night (or Monday morning) to keep all parties happy.

And finally, Pia. Ouch on the not wanting to read one of mine. I can follow your reasoning, but it stings a tad. Learn something, hm? I think I have a suggestion to throw out just because I can... it'll be on the poll too.

Whew! How's that?

Ok, so now that we have established that I have a short temper, why don't we just move on with it? I don't even see the need for a poll. I'm not interested in putting Generation Gap up to the SC anymore. It will just be posted sometime next week when Don can get it up.

I didn't see anyone having a problem with Coffee and Inspiration?

When I said keep the suggestions going until Sunday, I meant it as a joke since that was when I had said the script would be ready.

And in regard to not wanting to read one of George's, it's because we did one of yours recently and I do honestly feel I can learn more from reading scripts that are currently in production or will be in theaters soon. We saw with The Strangers how a crummy script can still be turned into a big film. I personally LOVE reading pro scripts, so that's what I would rather do. I try to study their style and such. The SC scripts we do that belong to SS people is extremely beneficial to the writer and we should all try to help each other, but I do feel pro scripts is what I learn more from.

And just so you know... I am in a good mood today.

Excellent. Good to hear. And I was in no offended, but I still figured I'd exercise my conceit. If no one votes on mine, I really don't care. I'm going to be able to finish a first draft of the novel version of that one today, so I'm actually more psyched about that than anyone reading the screenplay.

I think I must be the only one on here that enjoyed reading The Strangers and then
I watched the movie and enjoyed that too.

Personally, I like the title of Coffee and Inspiration and would read it based upon its title; so that's always a very good sign. Again, I think we should start a queue for a list of "to reads" so that people aren't offended or upset. We had this on a critique group I belonged to in the past.

To make it even more of a success, we could designate screening readers that recommend certain scripts be used in the script clubs with reasons why. The screening readers could be cycled around so that a few people don't get burnt out reading and suggesting scripts.

Let's say we aimed for 10 scripts in the queue for starters. (I'm speaking of unproduced scripts.)

I enjoyed reading and discussing "The Strangers" also, Sandra.

I think we should keep this fresh though and just come up with a script when we're ready for one.

I vote for "The Cabin" for this SC!!!!!!!

The Cabin is a no for two reasons:
1) It's a shot, not a feature
2) It's been read enough.

I'm not opposed to people saying why they would pick a certain script, and I'm all for a queue or something for suggestion, but anonymous voting will probably be the best way to ultimately choose since people won't be swayed by any peer pressure and clicking in a poll is so darn compelling.

And if Coffee and Inspiration is your choice, please vote for it.

OK, if The Cabin is out, then I guess it might as well be that Coffee and whatever.  That's my vote.

I don't see The Cabin on the voting list.  I realize it's a short, but mayeb we could just read it 3 times in a row to get to feature length?

Pia asked that their collaboration be removed, so if you voted on it, you might want to go back and pick something else. If it's still there when you look, then wait a few minutes more. It can take up to ten minutes to update.
