This morning i had a very strange dream that gave me a very nice idea for a new script........
I was so excited that i want to begin write it right away........
I can stop think of it , this will be great......
The problem is that this time i am in the middle of my last work......
So guys have anyone try to work two scripts or more the same time..........?
Is this possible or i will be lost in the process.......?

Oh hell, I'm always in the middle of multiple projects. If I waited till I was done with one before doing another, I'd never get anything done. At this moment, I am actively finishing a script for a guy in Kentucky, completing the post-production phase on a movie I shot last October (God, I'm ready to be done with that one), and writing the novel version of Fempiror 2, not to mention several things hanging out in the wings waiting for me to address them.

It's all about finding a balance to get them done and the follow-through to finish what you start. If you have a great idea, write it when you have it. That inspiration won't come again. If you have taken notes on the other project, it'll wait. Besides, if your mind has shifted to this other one, you won't be able to effectively work on the other till you get this one out.

I usually have many scripts going at the same time. I also read several books at the same time.

I work on a feature and when I'm stuck or need a break I write something else for a few pages. If I'm working on a feature I love taking a break by writing a short. Same thing with books. I have one I read out by the pool, one in the bathroom, one as an audiobook on the iPod in the car, another on iTunes when I'm in bed.

Not sure this is ideal or that it would work for everyone, but it works for me.

I'm working on three scripts right now and have a great idea I want to start writing now but it will have to wait, three is more than enough right now. The good thing about it is that they are three very different scripts, so I can write whichever one I want depending on what mood I'm in. If I'm in a happy mood, I'll work on the comedy, if I'm not, I'll work on the drama. That way I'm always writing something.

Friend,

You have just asked a loaded question. And I mean loaded.

It feels to me that I'm constantly working on many projects at the same time.

I probably am if not consciously, then from a meta conscious level.

The difficulty is that there is no certainty in reality. What is certain today, is uncertain tomorrow.

Try and direct your efforts the best you can for one day at a time and always question, if you're being pulled away from one area to another, "What is the reason for this?"

I think the answer is, there is no answer. You must discern at any given time how you will approach the uncertainty.

Hope this helps,

Sandra

Do you mean actually writing two scripts at the same time or planning them? I've started off working on two scripts simultaneously. Eventually, one took over and I finished the second one later on. With my past two features, I'd been working on one for a year, wrote the treatment for the other whilst writing the first one then immediately started into it after finishing the first one. Now I'm working on two treatments simultaneously and plan on writing another two features back to back either at the end of this year or sometime next year (probably more likely).

To answer your question, it's no problem so long as your focus is balanced and you actually finish the work you start. I used to be an advocate of one script at a time but now I feel like it's better always to be working on something. Keeps the writer's block at bay.

If you want to be a professional writer understand that multi tasking is a necessary skill.

Most days I work on an assignment, a spec script and a critique in addition to my down time on sites like this one.

Thanks guys and girls for the feedback....
Im very happy to hear that the usual way is to work in many projects because this is what i will do. I will start my new work in 2-3 days.......
The good think is my first script is a drama, and the second a comedy, so i will work according to my mood..... ( maybe not so profesional.... anyway.)
One other good thing is that im not turning in a new project because im tired or in a dead end with my last one......... Im still very interesting in it.......
Hope it turns well......................................

I Hope it does too. Well, I'm in the middle of multiple projects like I have been for months, that's why nothing ever gets posted. I think (I have to do this too) finding the right balance might help, like George said.

Isle 10- A series I'm currently writing with my friend Adam and it will go into production soon. Think The Office meets 10 Items or Less.

Yeah, don't worry about it, Dimitris. Multiple scripts together are a good thing. If you get stuck on one, focus on the other until you get your clarity back on the original.

Hell, if I had to count all the partially finished projects on my flash drive, I'd be sitting here for a while. Well, I will be anyway. Back to "Hell on Earth." Adioses.
