I found this article on CNN with a Top 10 of movie car chases. The list is as follows:

10. Cannonball Run (1981)
9. Death Proof (2007)
8. The Fast and the Furious (2001)
7. Mad Max II - The Road Warrior (1981)
6. Vanishing Point (1971)
5. Gone in 60 Seconds (1974)
4. The French Connection (1971)
3. The Italian Job (1969)
2. Ronin (1998)
1. Bullit (1968)

I'm sure John Woo has made some beautiful (slow-motion) car chases...but who cares, the fucker ain't on the list.

Bullit has for a long time, unofficially, held the title for the best car chase ever filmed but ever since I saw the car chase in Ronin I've felt it was time for Bullit to scoot over and make way. You be the judge:

I've only seen two of those movies, and can scarcely remember the car chase scenes.

How the hell is Blues Brothers not on that list?

I didn't watch the clips.  My attention span is not ready to handle something that long at the moment.

I have nothing that you can read.

Because it's a movie list generated by CNN (actually looks to be by way of AOL), and they obviously don't know what the hell they're talking about.  Seriously, Cannonball Run?  That's racing, not chasing.  The scenes in The Blues Brothers and The Seven Ups blow that right out of the water.

And Vanishing Point should be higher.  The whole damn movie is a car chase.

Deja Vu had a great chase. A car chase with a twist.

We have a second from the floor on the Bourne car chases. Motion passed. Bourne will be included in the top ten car chases.

We have a motion on the floor that the CNN dude, or dudette, is an idiot for not including the Bourne car chases.

Lot's of great car chases over the years, but The Italian Job (1969), is still my favorite.  I get a kick out of the cars being red, white and blue, rather than red, white and green.  Just me. . . .

Hands down...BULLITT.   Sorry, but you really can't get much better than that.  No CGI, no rear screen projection, no cars on trailers or being manipulated by anyone other than the people behind the wheel (which is how most car chases are done these days).  Those are real cars driven very fast through the streets of San Francisco.  You also can't get any cooler than Steve McQueen behind the wheel.  And yes, that's him actually driving for much of the chase.  Not all of it, but most of it.  McQueen was truly the King of Cool.  So there.

My grandparents, on my mother's side, were Harry and Mary, so I grew up hearing all kinds of Dirty Mary, Crazy Harry jokes.

That was a great car chase, though!
