Rik Mayall died at home in London on Monday afternoon. He was 56.

The world is a worse place without him.

Very sadly missed.

Yep, 'The Young Ones' was a classic. For those of you not familiar with Rik Mayall you might recall the movie Drop Dead Fred in which he played Phoebe Cates' character's imaginary friend.

He always cracked me up.
A true talent with the gift of comedy. He will be sadly missed.

He was great.

I grew up watching "The New Statesman".

May he RIP.

Quoted Text
"There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him. And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish bastard." ~ Adrian Edmondson

Sadly missed.

Indeed. Very sadly missed. Spotted this earlier -

One for the Brits who are fans of the people's poet and Kevin Turvey. If which I would certainly count myself.

Quoted from Rik
This house will become a shrine, and punks and skins and rastas will all gather round and hold their hands in sorrow for their fallen leader. And all the grown-ups will say, "But why are the kids crying?" And the kids will say, "Haven't you heard? Rick is dead! The People's Poet is dead!"

Vyvyan crouches down to watch Rick's rear as he talks.

Quoted from Rik
And then one particularly sensitive and articulate teenager will say, "Other kids, do you understand nothing? How can Rick be dead when we still have his poems?"
