My thanks to Don and Jeff. It was a cool challenge.

Congrats to Rene, and all the participants. I only read a few but I'll check out some more this weekend. Dave, I want to be your agent for ATOM AND EVE...

Congrats to Rene! Also Dave, John, and Cam.

Jeff's challenge definitely brought out a lot of great dramas, three at the top. But no lesbians...

This is one of the only times that my votes have aligned with the winners. Great work y'all -- four strong scripts at the top there!

Hahaha...looks like I came back just in time to steal the win.  ;D

Lots of great talent on display in this challenge. Jeff made us dig deep and made drama the genre of choice for a change. All in all a great OWC with a lot of fun and creative reads. And some good controversy!

@ Rene- I knew the character limit was an obstacle in your gameplan. I've been to Dutch Harbor countless times and there's a story to be told there separate from what we all see on TV. That said, you displayed good skill for a week worth of research and ink.

@ Dave L - You continue to impress with your writing style and this is just another example of why I'm surprised youre not working in Hollywood already.

@ Staats - Never read anything of yours but I'm willing to read more. Love some of your visual storytelling techniques.

@ Mr. Gray - Terribly superb. Out of all the entries, I felt Plight is authentic and could be captivating on film. I saw some criticism in the dialogue, but I'd disagree on the argument of setting. Writing needs to be tightened up if you're considering a showcase beyond OWC, nevertheless it's a killer script and I enjoyed its thematic ending, one that I hope my own perspective resonated with your intentions.

@ Dustin - I didn't see that coming, and to be honest, the reveal you wrote Deathly Shade inserts my questions about the protag's motives in the category of "trust the artist". That still doesn't curb my interest and insight is welcome. Also, good to see ya again.

@ Clark - Hilarious stuff, keep it on paper. If for some reason all these comedies translate to you on stage at the Laugh Factory you might need intervention. Keep it coming!

I missed a few entires, I'll stagger some reads to cover them throughout the weekend. Great work and effort from all.

Damn...I didn't even realize this was up already.  Cool!

Congrats to Rene - I'm pretty sure this was indeed the best and I'm glad the voters got it right.

Looks like a bunch of my guesses on who wrote what were correct, but I'm impressed those I called out didn't give it away.

I was almost sure Dustin wrote that Deathly Shade script, but he stuck to his guns about not entering.

Once Khamanna suggested Sandra wrote White Icing, I knew she was spot on.

And, I was almost 100% sure Dan wrote Daughter of Gore, but he too didn't reveal anything to make it obvious - and Dan, IMO, this is by far your best work here. Sure, it needs some help, but in places, it's well done.

Good job, everyone and glad most seemed to enjoy this challenge.

Congrats Rene! Didn't get a chance to read yours but when I have time I will for sure!

Well done Rene, a thoroughly deserved win. Twas consistently solid throughout and a cracking wee read.

And cheers for the votes ladies and gents, bit of a surprise. I really was worried I'd butchered mine. Shall explain bits and bobs in the thread as annoyingly doing a drama rather than comedy brings up questions, just glad it worked for some folk as it really ain't my scene.

Well done everyone, look forward to the next already.

Congrats to Rene. It was my top rated script as well and stoked to see it take the top honors.  And thanks to everyone for the kind words here and the feedback on the thread re: my script. Much appreciated. Thanks to Jeff for framing the challenge and all the SS hosts - stellar.

Great work Rene, loved the research you did for the setting. I had about 5 that I liked on an even scale and yours was one as was Dave's, John's and Cam's.

LMAO. That literally made me crack up... but in all honesty, I actually remember reading your script and liking it. Don't think I commented on it though, was going to and ended up spacing.

Really??? You liked it??? Damn Tyler your the only one... You must be sick like me...lol

Damn Tyler that makes two of us. Damn man

I mean, it had its issues, that's for sure, but I think it really stood out to me because it was just way out there, much different than all the other entries. Even though it didn't meet the criteria for the OWC, I had fun reading it...mainly because you didn't take it too seriously and as a reader, neither did I. I think everyone else did, though, which was the problem for them. But I knew and read it for what it was, and enjoyed it. I can't even begin to tell you how hard you had me rolling with your descriptions lmao

Awesome Tyler, It was meant to be a dark comedy.  It was rushed though. I had like 6 hours ugh

Well I laughed hard, that's for damn sure, so well done. And for 6 hours, that's pretty damn good I think.

Congratulations to Rene and all who entered. I'm sorry I didn't get chance to enter (my own fault) and I'm also sorry I didn't get to read/review all the scripts. I hope my notes were useful to those that I did.

Congratulations, Rene!

Yours was one of my favourites. Well done and memorable!

And Michael, of Don't Talk to Strangers fame:

When I started reading yours I was really getting a kick out of it, but then it fell off for me:

The only reason was it went too out there with Mother Wrench

It felt sad to me actually to stop reading because I really felt a good and funny writing style that was hitting good notes with me. So, in the future, if I were to give any advice, I'd say don't go that far. I'm definitely interested in what you come up with in the future.

Good for everyone who entered. Some very good writing on display.

Thanks to everyone!

Sandra :)

Jeff,
Thanks a lot for those kind words.  That was really nice of you.  Sorry it took so long to reply.  I've started going to a PT clinic that specializes in spinal cord and it is messing me up.  Pain has been up, but, I do have a tiny bit more of mobility...

I knew there were issues with my entry.  I was also not happy that you guessed my entry on the first guess.  I try to pride myself on writing in different genres and being hard to pick out.

It's odd, but, again, I didn't get to tell the story that I wanted to.  The 4 person limit really hurt me.  And the other story idea that I had, a guy who gets kidnapped, I didn't think qualified as a fish out of water, so, I scrapped that one too.

I will write more for my entry there.

Thanks again for the kind words,  congrats to Rene, the runner-ups, and everyone else who entered.

Dan
