NIK dear, your post might be my favorite post of all times!! Those girls are the same age as all three of my kids!! Regarding the commercial, believe it or not, but it took 5 days to make that 30 second bit and at one time or another involved 11 people! We spent one day removing all personal items and such, moving furniture around and covering all windows (there were a LOT of them) with thick plastic sheeting to create night time. One day to set up lights and plan camera angles and such. One day of shooting and two days editing... plus another two days for me to figure out the correct codec for uploading to the site... A friend of mine and I did the lighting which is a lot harder than you might think. Well, you might know, but you know what I mean. Seemed it was always too "hot" or too many shadows. I worked the camera which is why it's so jerky and out of focus in the last scene... okay okay... it was late in the evening and we were partying... I did first editing, but had help with the fine tuning... a LOT of fine tuning. A friend did the first VO (I wasn't crazy about it) and my husband did the last VO. I seriously doubt we'll win any money, but I learned TONS so it's means a lot to me. Anyway, thanks for checking it out! I'm still laughing btw. |

Hey pia,
Cute commercial. The beginning and the end scene were funny. Good luck in the contest. The experience always count so either you won...but having a bit of fame doesn't hurt. lol. |

Pia, I think you need to save my comment then haha. Glad your laughing. I liked the commercial. You said all these things happened just for a commercial, so now just imagine what could happen with a short film. Good luck, you might end up getting some money, who knows. Cheers |

Aw what, you mean that lady Zalador or Madam Zelda or whatever her name was you had for your Avatar isn't you? When I read your scripts I used to have visuals of that blonde queen of the dark lounging back in an open coffin out in her backyard under a full moon, tapping away on a laptop.
Doritos commercial very cool and very profesional. |

Hey, thanks for checking it out. Javier, one person I showed this to before uploading it said "lucky guy! he gets to party with 3 girls and all he had to do was buy some chips!". I loved that comment. Tonka, that is me in my avatars (except for this dead flower). Usually current pics too, but I'm not 22! Anyway, thanks for watching all of you! |

That was pretty awesome. Looked very professional... No offence, but it was a lot better than I was expecting! I can definitely see the time and effort you put in... so congrats.
What camera did you use to shoot this?
And what is the prize if you win?
Cheers, Toby. |

Makes me want party with three blondes. What's good with this commercial that it can easily be adapted for non-English-speaking channels. Just change the voice over at the end and you're god to go. Phil |

I knew you would say that Phil! And please let those dogs out of that cage!! Toby, thanks for the compliment! I used a Panasonic HVX200. The camera is fine. The problem was me not being a camera man/woman, but I'll learn as I go along. The five finalists win 25K each. I'm sure this one will not be one of those though. Last Friday there were less than 400 entries so I was hopeful, but by the time of the deadline there were 1600, so I doubt I have a chance. Next year will be better... |

^^ Ah wow, good luck!! And the Panasonic HVX200 is a pretty nice little camera for the price it is.
Is this the first thing you've filmed? Got any shorts in the process of filming? |

Maybe I'm stupid, but I have a feeling you mean something by that I just don't know it... Btw, on a second look, maybe they don't look friendly enough to let out... |

Thanks Sandra! Just as a side note... that dog is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He's huge! Too big for the breed standard. He's also very scary! He's as tall as me when he stands on his hind legs (5'11") and he's not that nice either. He barks and growls at people and has bitten some people! My husband was petrified by him and I had to record his VO (pass the bag) at a different location, because he left. He didn't want to stay. |

I know... most of the entries are quite bad... Like America's funniest videos in quality, but minus the humor. Still hard to get chosen out of 1,749 entries though. Thanks Jordan for checking it out. I really would encourage all the SS filmmakers to participate. The odds are still pretty good and you'll most likely learn lots too... |

Maybe I'm biased, but I've been watching some of the others, and I really do like yours the best so far!
I'd definitely vote for this one. To me, it has the appeal where you want to watch it again and again just to see different things inside the shots.
PS, I think the single guy being surrounded by three babes is a lot of men's dreams; so to put it in a commercial around a football game is clever, witty and just plain fun.

Thanks Sandra! The original idea was to have a guy party gone bad until the wife/gf shows up with the Doritos. Then I came up with the idea of reversing the roles and it seems to work. I think I've watch about 1000 of them now and I've seen a few good ones, but most of them I agree are on the level of Americas Funniest Homevideos except not all that funny. |

Thanks Cindy! The funny part to me was that they write on a big board DORITOS "SNATCH" ATTACK Maybe I'm the only one who see that as a major mistake. |

The old school "film" style coupled with the futuristic aspect of the villains made that one flat out weird. Did you see any with a ninja? |

Maybe it was intentional to see if they could get away with it. I did that in naming a beer for a homebrew competition once. The name I picked was posted on websites. Phil |

Finally saw this. Well done. Sooo melodramatic but that's what I loved about it. I don't apply the same standards to commercials as I do other things. Solid production value as well. Good job overall. |

James and Tommy, thanks for checking it out! James, to bad you can't see the full size version. It's LOTS better looking and sounding... It does make the errors more obvious to, but still. It looks very rich in its original. |

Tommy, thanks for fixing that. It worked earlier. Anyway, this is worth studying I think. Very very simple and look at the prize!!! Beats any film festival or any script competition. I think! Well... we got 10 months to come up with another one... Forgot to add a link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQgDDMfu9Gs |
