I got this idea about a week ago and I keep adding to it. At first I just thought it'd be a funny thing to see, but now that I've developed the story a bit more in my head I would actaully like to try it, but due to my first script (which I'm still writing) I won't be able to give this script full attention. I would love to work with a few people on this, as I have yet to seriously collaborate on a script.
The story I've thought up goes as such:
Ten or so years later Willy Wonka, who is stricken to his bed due to a losing battle with diabetes, hands the factory over to Charlie. Charlie, though older is still niave to the ways of the business, is forced to take on all duties. He begins to doubt himself and his creative ability. Meanwhile Veruca Salt, the spoilt girl from the first, returns with her inherited riches and buys 49% of the shares from the factory, leaving Charlie's 51%, which he generously shared out amongst his family. Veruca finds out and befriends Charlie's Grandpa..
After there it gets kinda vague, but that's my basic idea. Is anyone interested on helping me develop this idea?

I never got the impression that Willie was a chocoholic. For him, each bite was more of a study than a cheap pleasure. Also, by giving him diabetes, you're adding an ugly dose of realism to the story.
You could also throw in Violet Beauregarde as someone who is competing against Veruca for control of the company.
Realism is exactly what I want to do. I want this to be the downfall of the fantasy, atleast at first. The factory goes down and so does Charlie because he doubts himself and when he does the fantasy disappears.
I like your Violet idea, she could even own a chewing gum factory or be a world class fighter.. It'd certianly fit her character for her to be competing against Veruca.

Hahaha, good title. Yes, I'm going to add that to the plot:
Ten or so years later Willy Wonka, who is stricken to his bed due to a losing battle with diabetes, hands the factory over to Charlie. Charlie, though older is still niave to the ways of the business, is forced to take on all duties. He begins to doubt himself and his creative ability. Meanwhile Veruca Salt, the spoilt girl from the first, returns with her inherited riches and buys 49% of the shares from the factory, leaving Charlie's 51%, which he generously shared out amongst his family. Veruca finds out and befriends Charlie's Grandpa. All the while Violet Beauregarde, who now owns a gum factory, finds out what Veruca is doing and competes with her over who will control the factory..
Is there a place for the other two kids?

I don't think you should try and work in the other characters just for the sake of having them. If it's not natural for the story, then just omit them. It wouldn't be logical for Veruca to have Augustus as a goon. Why would she? He lives in Germany. Wouldn't she have an English goon instead? It would be more logical.
You've also gotta be careful about Violet. For instance, is she still going to be blue? Perhaps she can be some weird, sick, disfigured villain who spontaneously bleeds blueberry juice or something. Like the villain in Casino Royale, where his eye weeps blood for no other reason than it's kinda creepy.
This sounds like a wonderful, fantastic idea. It would be great to see it all put together. But you'll have to be careful not to screw around with the mythos of Willy Wonka's world too much.
I, on the other hand, think you should screw around with the mythos of the Willy Wonka world. These are characters we all know - they are as much a part of the story as Charlie so I think they should be part of a sequel.
Augustus might not work out as Veruca's goon - but he could work as her husband. Of course the marriage might be one of convienence but that could work.
For that matter Mike TeeVee, now a producer or actor, could be trying to put together a project about his visit to the chocolate factory - years ago.
He wants the rights, Charlie wants the publicity, Veruca wants it all.
um . . . I take it none of you guys are big fans of Roald Dahl. He has already written a sequel to Charlie and the chocolate factory. It it called Charlie and the great glass elevator. Just thought you might be interested.
Lol you could have an Oompa Loompa revolt. That would make matters more complicated for Charlie and his band of loyal cohorts. Does he have a band of loyal cohorts? It seems like in this installment, Charlie is a little light on allies.
The idea is good. And you can't make one of these movies without using the Oompa Loompas. It's just not done.
