I've been corresponding with people to see what might happen over the next couple of months - quotes from some people who are either responsible for making films, or filmmakers:
"It's really hard to predict how production is going to relaunch, though I think there is going to be a proposal from a large working group going to Gov Cuomo and Gov Newsom in the next two weeks that will lay out the guidelines for getting people back on set. The unknown factor (besides the unknown of the pandemic in general) is how the unions will respond - none of us can meaningfully go back to moviemaking until SAG / IATSE / etc are comfortable."
"Incredibly frustrating time for all of us who are trying to make things!"
"There's certainly going to be more of an appetite for projects that have a smaller footprint - things that are more practical to launch when restrictions start to lift. So movies with giant crowd scenes, a lot of locations, etc will become less feasible in the short terms. It'll still obviously be driven by concept / cast / etc as always, but the more responsible the production plan, the better."
"What I’m hearing is that people aren’t interested in making covid social distancing scripts, because creatives and audiences are sick of it."
(re; "covid scripts") "I’m sure someone will (want to film COVID scripts)... but there’s not a push for it... I think you have to look at the ideas, feelings, emotions and socio-politics... And create a story from that."
Another producer just weighed in... I guess this can be considered a lead?
"No Covid scripts. At least not for me. 5-10M action/thrillers/suspense with small casts and Ltd locations and preferable int'l quotients - both cast and locale. Strong concepts."
Very impressed with the quality of the writing and the ideas here. Even more impressed that there was very little redundancy, that each writer seemed to find her / his own segment or niche to explore...
Looking forward to the after-discussion about what might actually be filmable in this very dynamic COVID world of ours now...
Congrats, everyone!

Yep - got through them all - I really think the open genre helps in these OWCs in terms of seeing a wide variety of stories.
Done as well. I like the open concept as well. Makes for a much more varied contest.
I also like that the newer writers to the board are also contributing reviews.
Can't wait to start guessing on who wrote what.
Some of my scripts:
Bounty (TV Pilot) -- Top 1% of discoverable screenplays on Coverfly I'll Be Seeing You (short) - OWC winner The Gambler (short) - OWC winner Skip (short) - filmed Country Road 12 (short) - filmed The Family Man (short) - filmed The Journeyers (feature) - optioned
I tried to log onto the boards this morning (UK time) to review a few more but I couldn't connect. I think it was another DOS attack. I'm out of time now but Ill try again tomorrow.

I'm impressed with this group of scripts. Even our obviously new writers' scripts seemed stronger than usual. Well done, everybody.
And, I too, enjoyed the wide variety that this OWC generated. I'm a bit surprised, given that we have 22 pandemic scripts. Still, very little overlap.
As always, I have a couple that stood out. But, I think the group below those couple is tightly packed and very good.

Mark,
Apologies. I'm working with a security company to monitor traffic and help mitigate the DDoS attacks. I hope by tomorrow things will be better.
Can someone explain to me what the goal of a DDoS attack on a site like this is?
Is it just general jerkiness? Or, is there an actual point?

I believe Don is incorrect. It is obviously a denial of scripts attack. In all seriousness, no it doesn't make any sense why this site would be targeted other than a disgruntled writer seeking vengeance.

Or... maybe someone is getting too close to the truth in the plague thread...
Dustin! Where are you?
