I'm very disappointed the film will not be showing in NYC, a place I still consider "home" even though I no longer live there. But these are the locations that the feature film I wrote (The Suicide Theory -- workshopped here on SS in 200 including 2 theaters in LA, 10 theaters nationwide in total... still don't have the Canadian theater locations, will keep everyone posted.
The film will be released in select theaters and VOD on July 10th (U.S. and Canada)...
Hey guys, as the film approaches its theater and VOD release on July 10th, here's an AWESOME new trailer of the film. Really cool to see the "R" rating at the beginning, the film festival thingies and the film critic quotes. It's been a childhood dream of mine. #ThisIsAwesome
Not playing anywhere near me, but HUGE congratulations! Congratulations on getting it into theaters, but also being the first person from SS to do so! There has been so many people over the last ten years I've been here, that has come close. So many promises. So many expectations that ended up in disappointments. I'm really really happy to see that it worked out for someone finally.
I'll have a couple of extra Guinnesses in your honor on those dates...
It will also be available on Itunes and Amazon same day. We received a bunch of reviews so far, most of them very positive (with the exception of one REALLY negative one). Check out the film! Won't be on DVD til September...
That's fast onto VOD... i suppose you've got to take whatever distribution deal you can get. I'm going to have to look into this more. Tarantino didn't go straight to DVD, he hung around the back street cinemas (indies) for over a year. Maybe because he'd built up this thing where his film Reservoir Dogs was banned. Took around a year before he managed to get it on the mainstream cinemas.
VOD seems to be a trending thing now, especially this "same day it's in theaters" thing. I've been noticing more and more films getting this treatment (Dark Places starring Charlize Theron, I remember Margin Call, a great film called Kill List, etc)
It's all about the money, bro. Costs a lot to keep a film in the theatre not to mention advertising costs. Shame the indie cinemas aren't as good as they used to be. Seems like there would be a market there. But the ones in my city have all shut down. I suppose VOD is the new indie. Anyway, good luck mate.
