To all the horror fans out there, I'm looking for some new/old horrors to watch, something obscure, foreign language, any sub genre but most importantly good!
For a genre I truly do love, damn there are so many bad horrors. I'm sure there are in most genres but because they are generally lower budget in nature, the genre definitely suffers.
What do I mean when I say good; well something that doesn’t solely rely on jump scares. A solid plot and something truly horrifying as it takes a lot to scare me.
I feel like I have watched almost everything there is ,but maybe someone has a little gem I haven’t seen.
Ranging in obscurity...hopefully a few you haven't seen already.
Messiah of Evil (1973) Last House on Dead End Street (1973) Black Christmas (1974) Zombie (aka Zombi 2) (1979) Cannibal Holocaust (1980) Mother's Day (1980) Maniac (1980) Nightmare (1981) Possession (1981) My Bloody Valentine (1981) Angst (1983) Videodrome (1983) The Mutilator (1984) StageFright: Aquarius (1987) Audition (1999) Wolf Creek (2005) Sheitan (2006)
I have reviewed many of these in the movie review section. All have something going for them, most horror movies do not and most are quite brutal, pull no punches type violence.

I'll assume you've seen the obvious ones and recommend In A Glass Cage. I have only talked to one other person in my life who has seen it, and that's the person who recommended it to me (although it's now featured in Shudder's collection, a new horror-movie streaming service). Icy, soul-crushing film about the nature of evil and firmly grounded in reality. Subtle and methodical with no cheap shock tactics and minimal violence, but the acts of violence featured are devastating and the psychological component is tenfold.
I would also recommend The VVitch. This one was heavily marketed to the mainstream, but it's still new, so perhaps not everyone has seen it yet. I totally underestimated this film. A true occult vibe that challenges countless conventions of the subgenre.
Also, Martyrs, although at this point, I think it's somewhat obvious. The best horror movie of the 21st century IMO.
I'll also endorse these films which have already been mentioned (even though one of them is not horror at all):
