Is this going to happen? At the end of the final shooting script, it says the survivor, Lex will return in this title.

All I want to know is what's with the stupid tag lines? Even unproduced script sequels have them and it's stupid. Next we'll see Alien vs Predator End Game than The Next chapter and than Alien lives

Just give it 1 name and stick with that name

If you give each sequel the same name how are you supposed to differentiate between the movies? Of course, you could use the standard normal numbers or Roman numerals, but that gets rather boring after a sequel or two, so the "tag lines" are a good idea. Unfortunately, many movies don't have very creative subtitles and use the same ones over and over, those are the ones you hate. I believe they can be very useful if done right.

First of all, if they do it, they need to do 2 things, 1. DO NOT HAVE ANDERSON WRITE AND DIRECT.......... 2. Have it in the future and not on earth.....

if they do that, than i will see it but what i have herd, ANDERSON has signed to write ALIEN 5 and that FOX will not do another AVP......

ANDERSON is like a flock of locuest, eating everything that is good and shreding it into an awful piece of shit.....

Paul (Writing Shit) Anderson, is like a virus, draining the life out of any franchise he gets his hands on.
He's an o.k director but as a writer, he's a joke.

As long as there's an audience he'll be around, stop feeding him with your publicity and it may not be so long until he falls into obscurity.

Why do you people think this movie was bad. I thought it was an awsome way to put these two species togther. Great Dialogue, great fight scenes, it was just great. But that is my opinon

According to IMDb, yeah I get most of my movie news from there, there are no current plans for an "Alien 5."
And due to the studio and critical backlash of "Alien vs Predator" I doubt they'd consider Anderson for the sequel.
If anything, I'd say just let the series die down.
"Alien" and "Aliens" were brilliant films, the others just sucked.

Here is some news on ALIEN 5

Sigourney Weaver is game for another sequel. "I want to go on and on," the actress told the The London Sunday Times. "If they want to write a good script for another Alien film and give me $20 million, then fine. If it's more sex they want, great. Another brilliant drama? Yes, please. If we want to plan a trip to, say, Timbuktu, we can go. Even if I got pregnant again at this age, I'd want the baby. I'm up for anything." But Weaver was sceptical about the Alien Vs. Predator film released last August. " I think its just a stupid to combine the films into one. I think Paul Anderson is a great person but i would never be in an AVP movie or let alone work with him."

Ridley Scott dropped the following quote at a press conference in Sydney this morning: "You know I thought it'd be nice. I'd do it, if FOX dosent hire Paul Anderson. It really is entirely dependent on the take on the material. It's all about material. I've been asked about Alien 5 and I said, Of course. We've started a script meeting with Paul Anderson. I mean, I've started [the franchise] off so I may as well close the door — if, in fact, this is meant to be the last one."

people give Paul no credit yet if he started a script contest everyone would flock to it. Odd how that worked out for the guy who brought us Cabin Fever, members of this site and Hollywood may not like him but he has made good enough films to sell well.

As long as there is an overwhelming audience for RE and AVP they will keep Paul in business, people who buy the dvd's just to bash the film gives Pauls bosses more of a push to give him something else.

yet I care nothing for Alien films of this nature so whoever gets the job will affect me none, continue to cry and moan about the sequels on the internet and watch where it gets you. (Not directed at anyone but think about it)

I never look at who directs films I like until after I watch the film so really I would never care, I'll give anything a chance no matter how much it's bashed online. Though reading through reasons why people hate some films really shows they pay to much attention to the film making and not the film itself.

I really wish James Cameron would take on another film again. His last film was eight years ago when he did Titanic. I know he's doing the adaptation of Battle Angel Alita but that's going to be entirely in 3D and not everyone will be able to see it. I wish he would take on another Alien film, or better still, another Terminator film. Cameron would show them all how its done...

It seems that "AVP 2" is not only go, but a script is actually complete:

http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22299

Now, the article does not say who the writer was, but, for the love of God, can it not be Paul Anderson?

There is just so much potential with this franchise.  I think that Anderson could be kept on as director, but just have him stay away from his type writer.  My opinion on where it should go?:

1.) Pretend the first one never happened.  Start all over with fresh concepts and fresh characters.

2.) 20th Century Fox has got to back the fuck off.  I'm no Anderson fan, but it is obvious that not every problem with the first was purely his fault.  It had studio manipulation written all over it.

3.) Is an R rating really that much to ask for?

4.) Perhaps in this one, have the aliens and predators fight for more then ten minutes of screentime?  Yes?

Again, I have to say that there is a good movie in this idea somewhere.  Just a few slight changes, and it could at least be a great action/pop corn flick... and this is coming from a guy who actually liked "Alien: Resurrection."  So, please Fox... don't fuck this one up.

Does it matter? They never have a full asnwer to these versus movies, Like Freddy vs. Jason they have that little cliff hanger ending where your not sure who won and you feel robbed of your 10 bucks.

Frankly it's a rigged match it's up to writers and producers which side wins. Usually it's the "Human sidE" who is the final one standing. We're getting caught up in this vs. craze. Why? Because the original series have outdone themselves and now we must find some new way to bring them back onto silver screen.

Would I love to see a new aliens movie? Yes if done right (but I doubt you'd get Ridley Scott or JAmes Cameron directing it , discluding the great David Fincher b/c I hated Alien 3, not his fault entirely though) Predator was never very good from the get go. All it managed to do was transform actors into politicians, you've got Arnold and JEsse ventura in it.

If you want to scratch your "Aliens" itch, you should read the unproduced script for Alien 3 by David Twohy (the guy who wrote "Pitch Black").  I don't know what they were thinking using the one they did.  They must have been smoking crack.

It is the script they should have made -- still on a prison, but without all the religious mumbo-jumbo.

You can find it on this site.  Check it out.  Really.  It kicks total ass.

AVP was somewhat boring when it should have felt like an epic film as it should be. Aliens and Predators oh my but we got smart killing machines who help the protagonist?

"Coming this fall... Jaws 8: In Therapy - In this sequel Jaws speaks to humans and shares his feelings"

Oops. My bad.

Anyway, AVP 2 might not come out till 2006. I'm not that excited, but if Alexa Woods is not returning, one theater seat will be empty.

I saw AVP the other night and Alien and Aliens. I'm renting A3 and AR this coming week! I thought that AVP was lame. It didn't scare you like the originals do. To me, it was just another movie. Nothing special. I'll go see this one, but I'm not super siked about it.

Ain't It Cool posted a script review to the sequel.  They essentially rip it to complete shreds, but not without reason.  This just sounds awful.  Truly, truly awful.  I can only hope it is either some sort of joke or hoax.  However, after the first crapfest, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the way it's going to go:

As much as I love Sigourney Weaver, if this is going to be the last one, they should have her die and stay dead in this one (Alien 5).

I, however, am looking foward to AVP 2. I thought the first one was decent.

It was announced earlier this week, that The Strauss Brothers have signed on to direct the sequel to Alien Vs. Predator.

Variety caught up with new Alien vs. Predator 2 directors who revealed what we can expect from the sequel.

"We really want to take it back to the original 'Alien' and 'Predator' films and make a serious, gritty horror film," Colin Strause said.

"We want to take it back to its roots, without losing sight of the human struggle," added Greg Strause. "That's what made the originals so good."

i heard that ridley and sigourney met sometime last year to discuss doing another alien movie. Ridley wanted to explore the Alien homeworld...where do they come from? what is their planet like? i think its safe to say - both decided against it.

the strause brothers?? great - hand the franchise of to rookies... that'll fix everything. im  sorry but i'm skeptical about Alien movies that dont involve Cameron or Scott.

Sigh.

Fangoria reports that Alien vs. Predator sequel Alien vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest (new title) starts shooting in Vancouver on September 23 and wraps on December 14:

AVP's Tom Woodruff Jr. and Alec Gillis of Amalgamated Dynamics, veterans of the first AVP and all the previous ALIEN sequels, will encore on the creature FX. The Shane Salerno script places the battling extraterrestrials on U.S. soil (the Midwest).

Colin and Greg Strauss are making their feature directorial debut on the film, opening December 21, 2007.

Survival of the Fittest?! That's a sucky subtitle thing, whatever you call them. And I thought you meant from September 23rd 2006 to December 14 2006. I was like "Wow that's short..."

Oh well, I look forward to this movie because I enjoyed the first one. I just hope they don't screw it up.

That is what I meant. But, yeah that is an insanely short amount of time, but then production time for films is continually getting shorter.

True, but that's because most of the magic nowadays happens in post-production. These dates probably refer to principal photography (that being the part where the camera shoots real people against a big blue screen with lots and lots of freaking wires   ). Almost gone are the days where 90% of the film occurred on location or sound stages. Now we have CG.

As for the Strauss Brothers, maybe rookies are just what the franchise needs. After all, the new guys often do the best job since they're aiming to prove themselves and get more jobs in the future. Crappy job means no more work for them. So take the film out of the hands of the jaded old guys and let the newbies do it. One of those Strauss Brothers is my age, and I know I'd do a kick-ass job with anything they gimmee.

I just thought the first was a good entertaining action movie. I didn't really care that people thought they were destroying the Alien films or Predator films... it was fun. I'd go see this one but I have to fear the worst. I just hope its not similar in story.

That is what I meant. But, yeah that is an insanely short amount of time, but then production time for films is continually getting shorter.

Oh...now my hopes have gone downhill for this movie...

They need to take their time! I actually want this movie to be good!

This movie actually sounds good. The directors have called it a good halfway point between Alien and Aliens. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but this at least has a fighting chance of being good. This time they're going for a hard R rating, which is exactly what the first one should've been. But never mind.

There's a new behind-the-scenes clip on http://www.comingsoon.net, also available on YouTube I believe. It doesn't really show much from the film itself, but it has an OK interview with the two directors (Greg and Colin Strauss). Enjoy.

Cheers, Chismeister.

First still from the sequel.

After seeing this, I am amazed that the film is actually getting a theatrical release.

Anderson is out. That's enough for me.

AVP 2 might have a chance where AVP failed. I kind of think that Fox got the message.

How many times are they going to change the title?

A pic from the newly re-titled Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem popped up on IGN today. Also, a trailer may be appearing online as early as tomorrow.

edit: The new Red Band trailer has been revealed. You can watch the trailer over at IGN.

My eyes are tearing up. Is this possible? Could they get it right this time?

This could very well be the best seuqel to a bad film ever. I'm waiting for word of mouth, but as it stands right now, I'm so seeing this in theaters.

The trailer looks pretty kick ass. I'm so relieved the directors are going for the hard R rating this time around. After the watered down tone of the original movie, it'll be good to give the Aliens and the Predators their fangs back. I won't see it opening night, but I'll see it some time.

Yeah. It does. There are like a dozen deaths that seem to be of major characters.

But still. Gore.

A new (possibly international) trailer for the next Aliens vs. Predator film has appeared at Filmweb. The trailer contains quite a bit of new footage. So head over there and check it out, but beware of a lengthy load time.

Uh-huh, this was a far better trailer than the first one and I'm grudgingly beginning to look forward to this film. Looks like Fox learned a lesson after the first one - an alien - or predator - movie must never be rated PG-13.

I don't think I'll watch any of the AVP movies any more.
I lost interest in the Alien Movies after Alien 3 and I dod not like Predator 2 at all. So, this will be an "if it's on TV sometime, I'll watch it. But I will not spent one cent on this movie.

I just saw the trailler today and I absolutely cannot wait to see it. It looks ten times better than the first one was, and actually has pretty much everything I wanted to see in the first one, mostly Aliens on Earth that leapright in through your front window. I'm glad its not long till its released (round Christmas in US, January in UK) but I'll be seeing it as soon as I can.

There's another new trailer over at IGN. This one's just greenband, but it makes the movie look pretty kick ass.

I just the TV spot. I never thought I'd say this but "AVP:R" looks waaay better than Anderson's hunk of fecal matter. In fact, it feels like the first one never happened. I doubt it'll be great, per se, but it looks like fun. I also got a kick out of the red R in the logo. It's like they tried to make the R rating into a selling point, haha.

I don't know about the predalien though. Looks kinda stupid, IMO. Like a rastafari Alien, or something that the action figure department thought would be a cool toy for Christmas  but just doesn't work on film.

I don't understand why we need a hybrid again either. The one in Alien 4 sucked. Aliens and predators are way cool by themselves. No need for gimmicks.

Yeah, the dreadlocks looks pretty stupid on the alien. I don't mind the "facial parts" though, they look alright.

I agree with you about the A:R disaster newbreed, but aliens bred from different hosts (as in Alien3) will look different than the ones bred from humans. So it would make sense if a pred-alien looks different - but the hair? Forget about it.

Am I the only one that finds the kid with the face-hugger distasteful?

Feels kinda' cheap and exploitative.

Doesn't give me much optimism about the remainder of the film, either.

I'm actually okay with that. It hasn't been done before in an alien movie and it just goes to show that no matter race, age, religion, gender etc. the alien will fuck you up.

Now, if the kid had been skinned by a predator, that would have been distasteful.

Am I the only one who doesn't think 'taste' should be factored into a movie that's called "Aliens VS Predator"? The title itself promises exploitation of some kind.

Generally I applaud when kids are dispatched in horror movies. Nobody wants them around anyway.

So thumbs up from here.

Hmm...guess I ain't in the target audience haha.

I don't know.  I always thought the Alien movies were kind of classy in their own way -- with top-notch visuals and attention to story -- even if you do not agree with every decision they made with the franchise, at least it looked like they were trying.

But now they are just slumming and pandering.  That's how I see it, anyway.

Okay, I'll side with Bert.

I've always thought of Alien and Predator as mature, adult-oriented franchises, even when the films sucked.  Sure, there's obligatory sex in Predator 2, but frankly, I think both franchises have always taken the high road as far as both sci fi and horror go.  Then we've got this cheap "haven't done this yet" gag.  I think it sucks.

Oh and the storytelling seems very matter-of-fact and, frankly, terrible in the first five minutes, but I'm sure that'll get cleaned up.

The beginning looks great. It looks as though they cut some stuff out to make it at 5 minutes, 'cause it seemed to have moved rather quickly.

Though, I'm glad that the father was killed off in the first 5 minutes. He didn't seem that good. His reaction to his arm getting burned off was just...terrible. If I were him, I'd be screaming or something.

I agree with you about your first point. But I distinguish completely between the Alien franchise and the arcadish 'spawned from a comic-book wet-dream' "VS"-series. AVP is, in mind mind, supposed to be tasteless, or at least disregard good taste in the pursuit or gore and acid blood dripping on people.

Had it been an Alien film, it would've been a different matter.

However I would argue Alien: Resurrection falls outside of the "classy" category. but that's just me.

I agree with both comments. You basically nailed the concept of the AVP franchise. It's definitely not meant to be in the same vein of the actual series themselves. It's definitely for the twelve-fourteen year old who think it'd be cool to see who would beat who. Forget story, haha. The whole merging of franchises is a very Hollywood idea in and of itself as well. I think it's plain to see AVP's not about "classy."

I wouldn't put Alien: Resurrection in the same catagory though. It was just way too self aware. I'm pretty sure it's meant to be a dark comedy/spoof of the series. The director's first two films (Delicatessen and City of Lost Children) were both sort of fantastical dark comedies (check 'em out!). A:R is a little more mainstream than the latter two but the director's sensibilities seem to be the same. I liked it though, even though Joss Wheadon is kinda lame.

Anyway, the AVP clip seems pretty standard. Mindless entertainment, which is what it's meant to be. The rest of the flick might be fun but I think I'll wait for the DVD if I decide to see it at all.

Yeah, I think A:R was obviously a renowned director's artsy (I like Jeunet's other stuff though) take on a series he refused to do conventionally. And the comedy was just way too slapstick and incongruous with everything else. Hedaya's general Perez when he's killed by an Alien was laughable (not in a good way).

On the other hand there were some pretty cool characters and dialogue in it.

Like when Perez offers Elgin a drink.

GEN. PEREZ
You drink, Elgin?

ELGIN: Constantly.

And I loved Annalee Call (mostly because I'm in love with Winona Ryder )

I actually like Joss Whedon. He's not without his flaws and he tends to marginalize dramatic or action scenes in favour of light-hearted banter, but he does that so well. Firefly was probably one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

Forget Buffy.
