Clerks II is going to smash the box office. I know it will, just because of how funny the last one was. Nacho Libre will only get 30,000,000 in my opinion. Superman will get 240,000,000... Pirates will get 160,000,000...
It's got to be Pirates. Superman will do great and be a big contender but I think more kids and families might go for Johnny Depp and good old swashbuckling action this summer!
Da Vinci Code is at: 705 million dollars I hate that movie so much! I wanted it to flop! > > > >
How could you want a movie to flop? That's pretty grimy if you ask me. People put work into that and they get paid off of their work. How could you want someone's work to fail?
And Superman is a joke, that will not top anything.
I also wouldn't put Titanic's record out of reach, however. I have a feeling it will be broken very soon as a matter of fact.

I disagree. A film to break Titanic's record will need to do one of three things. A) Earn about $25 million+ for 15 straight weeks plus a slow decline or B)Have a gigantic opening and a slow decline or C) Have a big opening and an even bigger second week along the figures of the original Shrek
Since 2002, eight films have collected $340 million or more, the most being Shrek 2 at $436 million--still $164 million away from Titanic. In the immediate future there are films that will make a huge spash. Shrek 2 made almost $200 million more than the original, so you'd think that maybe that stock would continue to go up, but there's *surprising* trend recently with spur-of-the-moment trilogies failing. Shrek 3 will make alot of money, but won't get close to Titanic.
I think if any film is to break $600 million then it has to be an original story. We've seen adaptations of books both good and bad. The good being LOTR and Harry Potter and the bad being just about everything else. Pearl Harbor probably could have made alot more if it wasn't for that bastard Michael Bay. That's why I think if any film is gonna break Titanic's mark, it may be one of the many upcoming films on 9/11.
It's a major event, if affected every American, and you know that it's made on a big budget. In fact, can someone give me an exact figure of World Trade Center? The only problem is that they're releasing this thing in August. If this is a really, really good movie then it could come on top of the box office for several weeks. Maybe that's what the distributors are hoping for since business in late August/September is usually crappy.
So, that's my opinion of it. If a 9/11 film doesn't break it in a couple years, then some other mediocre film will in 10 due to ticket price inflation.
I don't think a 9/11 movie will do it because quite frankly I don't think the rest of the world would care that much to go see it.
The film I believe that will take the record comes out in 2008. I won't say the name because I don't want to jinx it or start a stupid argument. I think it will take something that the WHOLE world can relate to. But I believe it will be all on the way the movie critics rate it, because that is what makes people see it in the later weeks, word of mouth and a good review.
